@dan-mackinnon Well done! 5-a-side can be brutal if played to a decent standard.
I used to play with a group of friends in my mid 20s, I was rubbish as were most of outfield players but we were always knackered because we played way above our ability due to having a stupid good GK and one outfield player who could score lol
For me back to the gym this week, dont feel too sore from it either which is good.

On Thursday I played in my company's internal 5 a side football match. First game in about 2 years and I think I've just about recovered - and by that, I mean I can walk again!
Has anyone been up anything this week?

Ok so I’m going to put this out here and I don’t wanna offend anyone!!
I had a strange conversation at work today with a person who’s higher up the food chain than me.
Before I left for this tennis tournament in Monte Carlo I had to have a PCR test. 24 hours later when I arrived I had to another one and I wasn’t allowed to leave my room till I got a negative result. I wasn’t allowed to go work till I tested negative. I’ve been at work 3 days and have to another tomorrow. I asked the question “Do I stay at the hotel till I get a negative result. “
They said “No you come straight to work”. My reply was “Well doesn’t that kinda defeat the purpose?” To which they replied “No cause you’re in a bubble you just go from the hotel to work”.
“Yeah but the venue is a 45 minute walk which you’re making us do and yesterday I walked home in the pouring rain so that’s not really a bubble is it? When I pass hundreds of people on my journey so you can’t call it a bubble”“Yeah but it’s a bubble”
“ Umm no it’s not so my question is if I deal with most people on this production and I’m positive then most people are at the risk of being positive cause they have to deal with me. So does the test take that into consideration or are we just playing some daft game here? Because you can’t have it both ways. I can’t sit around and wait and then not wait because despite what you try and tell me. I’m not in some safe bubble. “
Is it just me or does that make no sense at all?

If anyone is interested in a good workout requiring no equipment, have a look at this:

The 4 week pre-entry one is great. Excellent mix of cardio and callisthenics.

@chris-osborne Carpets are expensive As you say now better weather means nicer walks outside, although it has snowed here in the last few days!!
Fingers crossed you can get your swimming back, something I will be looking to do semi regular once things open up again. Yea really looking forward to the gym opening, already booked four sessions on the app next week

@matt-wood Hi Matt its going ok slightly behind schedule which was always going to be the case during the first couple of months of the year but will catch up now the nights are getting lighter and the weather gets warmer. Walking inside is boring, must of worn out the hall carpet!!
I see no reason why the Gyms won't be reopening next week that was there plan but as it was only signed off this week hopefully will get confirmation in the next couple of days. Bet your counting down the minutes?

So glad the gyms have stayed open here, (feel bad for those of you in tier 4). Probably would have gone full Michael Douglas a la Falling Down in Ross on Wye had they shut my gym again
Not jealous much lol can’t see them reopening here for a while to be honest. As I can’t go swimming anymore and need to do something, signed up for this
Morning Chris, how is the walking challenge going? Will the swimming pools near you be opening as the country opens up again?

I've been doing 15m bleep test up and down my driveway and running around the block, to keep me going. But recently decided to order a NordicTrack connected exercise bike for the home.... It's absolutely brilliant. Loads of iFit programmes and interactive content, I've been cycling around French Polynesia for the last 5 days apparently!
Bleep tests suck super ass! Sounds like a great bike though Gyms open again soon for people too.

@dan-mackinnon Sounds good. Once the plague has died down and its safe I would do like you say and give each class a try. Im sure you will do this, but pay attention to the environment and the other students as much as the instructor, should give you a clue as to the overall club attitude.
Well done with the fast Im doing a slight mini one and am 24hrs in, will stop around 5pm tomorrow.

At the weekend I went for a walk and spotted a 3 places which teach BJJ about 40 minutes walk from me. I've just checked online and one seems more of a fitness gym (there is no information about the instructors) but the other 2 seems reasonable. They both do free introduction classes so might give it a try later in the year. One seems to have 1 instructor who is a black belt, whereas the other has 12 instructors all 3rd - 8th Dan.
As for the fast, I'm 52 hours in and finally got over the hump. I really struggled to sleep last night and was very tempted to stop at lunch time but I've pushed on.

@stuart-capstick Agreed 100%. I think I mentioned her somewhere, followed her career for a while, one of my fav fighters. She put on an absolute masterclass in movement in the Ronda Rousey fight, probably the best Ive ever seen.
-
Holly Holm- fantastic striker and moves wonderfully. Apologies if you've already mentioned her.
-
@dan-mackinnon Check out this excellent fight. Some top level striking on display here also a hell of a lot of guts.
-
Agreed, his fight IQ is off the scale. I remember watching his comeback against TJ after such a long injury lay off that was an incredible performance. It is a shame, I agree, I think that artificially elevated Garbandt and I would class that as an upset.
