@matt-wood I personally don't think they will, however the big clubs will make it harder for teams to qualify for the Champions League (which is where the really big money is)

    No chance.

I agree, because the big clubs pretty much already have their own league. I see the latest UEFA regulations are trying to stop another PSG, Man City, Chelsea, etc. So if Newcastle do get into Europe they will find it hard to spend big.

Also European football isn't like American sports. The USA is a similar size to the whole of Europe but only has a handful of teams in each region. It's more like supporting national teams during the Euros. My girlfriend and her family are from CT and everyone in that region supports whatever New England team.

@dan-mackinnon I would say it is. They will want the Premier to be more like NFL. A closed league. It works in USA for the NFL, it would not at all work for us here with football.

Of course if they got that then the next step would be franchised teams. Man Utd playing out of another city, or country even.

@frode-lia sounds so much like the Glazer takeover - just proves that Yanks are only in OUR football for one thing ... and dont care about the consequences.

Surely Agent Allardyce ....its his neck of the woods, and he'd be a darn sight cheaper/better than Rafa.

@dan-peacey I agree he did well results wise - but my beef with him is he is poisonous in how he splits clubs within - he's a politician and always gets fans going against owners, I know in Newcastles case there was plenty of good reason to be frustrated with Mike Ashley - but what did Rafa do to harmonise things? What was his long term impact behind the scenes? Look at Everton and the poison there - but even at Liverpool the stuff he did behind the scenes took years to repair.

I'm biased because I've worked with people who have worked with him and equally because I've worked with Managers who protect themselves and deflect blame on owners/executives and those situations are so damaging and counter productive.

    Agent Rafa anybody?

Dont see the point of appointing anyone this season cant bring anyone in etc may as well wait and see if by some miracle they stay up. Which Division there in will depend on who they can get as Manager and more importantly the resources available

@keith-anderson Couldn't agree more - these kind of sackings irritate the hell out of me. Timing appalling, rationale appalling.. plan next ?

Find a manager with experience of scrapping out of the relegation zone against the odds... oh wait you've just got rid of him... hate B@rnley but respect for Dyche and hope they get what they deserve 😡

Burnley were taken over by an American company who leveraged the club. I think they added a clause that they can offload the club if they get relegated? It’ll be interesting to see what happens next if they do go down.

Timing strikes me as bizarre what’s the point in taking this action now.

I’m glad to see him go his style of football is unwatchable but I would have waited until the end of the season or acted in January. There as good as down anyway after losing to Norwich last week

Shocking decision from Burnley. Proven track record of getting them out of relegation. They deserve everything they get this season. Sold their striker (Chris Wood) to a relegation rival (Newcastle). Serious lack of investment and ambition in that club
