@stuart-henry Totally agree although I'm gutted for Martin Boyle missing out on this. It must be a really hard one for him to take knowing that he would have been playing but for injury.

Delighted to see Jamie MacLaren come on as well, always liked watching him when he was at Hibs. Speaking of former Hibs players, after Jason Cummings came on against France, I saw a comment on Twitter saying that 'we can't believe there's someone playing in the world cup finals against the current world champions who once packed a travel adaptor for a trip from Edinburgh to Cardiff.'

@chris-osborne ....Mason Mount has also just turned down 200k a week at Chelsea as he thinks he is worth more!!
I just don't get it personnally?
Hopefully he drops Sterling and Mount (Big Time Charlies) but I doubt it very much....another bore draw on the cards.

Maddison back in training today so here’s hoping yes I know I’m biased not that the clueless idiot will play him

Can i just take a moment and state how brilliant this Australian football team is ! 👏

    That is all!!

They showed everything in abundnce that the English didnt last night.
Next game will be interesting, as can imagine Denmark losing to France, and therefore Denmark will need to beat Aus to progress.

A couple of real positives imo from this World Cup so far....

    1. Extra injury time being played - think this is a real good positive.

    2. The grappling at corners seems to have stopped after the first couple of games where they were infringed(?) by VAR - this is my pet hate in football at the moment , lets hope this is carried forward onto the National Leagues after the WC

Agree especially the injury time offsets some of the time wasting from the pointless 5 subs

I’d happily lay at 5 or under but not sure I could at 10s. Obviously there’s a chance they could struggle to break Wales down and the price could drift further but I could still see them scraping to a quarter final and the price could get silly from there

Not sure we’re guaranteed to go through at all.

However In your scenario we would be playing France in the QF we’d need to beat them for the odds to come in which is as likely as Southgate having any tactical clue

Some dodgy games in China the last couple of weeks! Hebei is 0-0 at 15’ and O1.5 is 1.06 to back! I had a similar one last week and the odds were like 1.35 at 80’ for another goal….something strange going on

From a betting point of view I think England have now become a value back bet at 10s. You could draw parallels from the Euros with last nights performance and the 0-0 draw with Scotland. As dull as it was it has pretty much guaranteed us qualification to the knock outs and a possible game with either Ecuador or Senegal both of which England would be favourites against and if they managed to get to the quarter finals the price could drop to around 7s depending on who was left in. Whilst I can’t stand Southgates style of play it does appear to be affective in tournament football

@martin yep, Southgate has never had a plan B. it seemed obvious that it needed shaking up at HT

Last night was a clear reminder to me why I hate watching England.

Said it before and I’ll say it again Southgate is completely and utterly clueless and needs to go the day they come back from the tournament.

How in heavens name is Mason mount in that squad let alone starting when Foden didn’t even come on and should be starting.

Bookies all over the world all laughing their way to Xmas bonuses this year so far.

Other than simply betting on the match odds market, the most popular bets I see are BTTS and O2.5 goals. Even correct score bettors like your 2-1 sort of jobs.

So far in 20 games there's been 8 BTTS and 7 O2.5s. @Martin often mentions in his podcasts about value and outside of betfair these 2 markets are on average somewhere between 4/6 - 10/11 (unless goals are expected then the 2.5s can be alot lower).

Bearing in mind your mug punters don't often bet on singles either, this has been a huge win for bookies or layers everywhere.

@stuart-wallace what winds me up is it's clear to everyone watching that this game needed tactical changes at HT. Then he waits forever to make any changes and does not change the shape at all! Like what does he see that I don't in those situations?

Why are Sterling or Mount picked ahead of Foden or Grealish?

It felt like he was playing for a draw!

Thought the USA were the better team.

USA v Iran to see who goes through? That’ll be tasty

Another excrutiatingly poor England performance - in the end , USA had players from Nashville,Norwich and Nantucket on the pitch - i mean, wtf !
Time to lay England - absolute Shyte.
