@lee-woodman After this exercise do you still continue to track those 'B' leagues? Are they still all included on your filter?

@ryan-carruthers Not a bad idea. It obviously doesnt have to be my list as, like i said, its subjective to the individual but if there is some sort of feature in there that would support it then it'd be very handy
@Ryan-Carruthers Agree its a great idea and as Lee has said its is somewhat subjective. Maybe and option on the filter for people to grade a league when they select it?
-
@ben-dobie Definitely worth having a look. It only took about 20 minutes to check it all out but the time i save by trading less can be used to develop another filter

I posted something in the football thread earlier about separating leagues based on quality so thought id share some figures as a couple of people seemed interested. Obviously i havent re-invented the wheel with this and most traders probably do this naturally but i did a bit of analysis on my main filter and it bumped the figures up quite a bit. So basically i just went through the leagues and graded them A and B in terms of quality. The idea being that the better leagues were more competitive and therefore each game mattered more. They also tend to have better players and deeper squads to change things as required. The teams also tend to be a bit more reliable. So all i really did was use my own knowledge of leagues and also my trading knowledge and gave the leagues an 'A' or a 'B' grade. So China, Sweden, Norway, MLS, Iceland for example were A and Estonia, Belarus, Slovakia, Peru etc were B. The figures for my SH goal filter are below:
A lot of the figures for the total look decent enough as they are, but remove the lesser leagues and the SR becomes better, significantly so on some trades. These are just a few examples trades, but these are the ones i tend to either trade or at least benchmark. The other factor is certain league grades are subjective
@Lee-woodman brilliant this mate, thanks for sharing .... will have a look and see how it affects my H2 filter

J League and motivation - currently watching the J League game whilst sorting out my Trading Plan and the commentator mentioned that there is no relegation from J League 1 to 2 this season.
I'm probably late to the party on that piece of information but wasn't aware and something to consider in the next few weeks/months as there season progresses.

@martin-futter Can the software not have a default league setting were it automates each filter?
ask @adam-williams
-
@chris-osborne I agree, this is quality - it highlights the leagues to trade and the ones to go oooo no might have to swerve that one!
-
@lee-woodman This is awesome, and the results speak for themselves
There was someone who posted earlier this week can't remember who saying that he was a new trader and overwhelmed by the volume of games and looking for a way of filtering. I think you've given him his answer as a starting point.
For me I've in the last couple of weeks cut out alot of the non top level leagues with a few exceptions - Championship, Bundesliga 2 and Superettan which is a league I like trading for some reason - made a big difference but will definitely be "borrowing" this idea
-
@lee-woodman It's a cracking idea, I will see if there's something we can do with adding something to the software to highlight which are the top leagues.
-
@richard-latimer Id say the first 2 or 3 tiers of English football is better quality and more competitive than a lot of other leagues. Remember, I’ve not done it based on results from the filter, I’ve done it on quality of the leagues

@martin-walker just over 2 months

This is by no means definitive as lots of these have 2nd and 3rd tiers so the 1st tier would be ok but maybe not the 2nd. Obviously youth and regional leagues dont even make the filter at all. Some im not sure on as dont have much experience in them, Ireland and Finland are 2 from memory
Surprised England is A. I find most leagues really unreliable.
-
@lee-woodman how long did it take your filter to get to that many games?
-
@lee-woodman Hi Lee
This is really interesting. Thanks for sharing on here.

@richard-latimer Ok, ill post it shortly. Like i said, quite subjective so each to their own!

Love to know your list of A & B haha?
