11:00 Jeonnam Dragons vs Jeju United- Late GoalGoal 1-0. Matched at 1.51 at around 55 mins so thats value there

@ben-dobie I always think that if you are taking losses and losing the confidence in the strategy go back to paper testing it, that way your still gathering the data but not ploughing in the losses that can hurt the confidence.

@ryan-carruthers thanks mate, think I’m just a bit lost as to how to get the best out of my filter, one thing I don’t do anymore is chase losses and I generally take losses on the chin just getting a bit frustrated at what seems to be either a small loss/small profit/break even most days. Wondering if it’s down to recording games on my filter that odds wise didn’t qualify for a trade ??
-
well a good weekend. Almost 7 pts from the sh goal filter but one loss out of 7 meant only 5 pts in the end. Still happy with that
-
@ryan-carruthers what do you do when a strategy goes through a rough patch of variance? do you just keep trading and losing or something else
-
@ben-dobie I've been at this for a looooong time and even some of my most profitable strategies have been battered by variance - the Betgreen LTD one year was awful, turned around - it can be really easy to get overwhelmed by losing runs and wanting to tweak the system - for me I reduced the stakes and try and stick to what has worked previously - one of the reasons I am so keen on a trading plan and where you state how you felt etc.... if you can create the routine for yourself you give yourself the best chance of being profitable.

@ben-dobie once you stop chasing you’re winning in a way and it takes time cause it’s easy to get overwhelmed by options. Sometimes filters just go that way. Ryan has a killer O1.5 filter but even that had a phase where it went a bit pear shaped for a while. Didn’t take long tho mate for it to start being profitable again. Sometimes it just happens. Stick with your strengths sometimes you can’t catch a break other days it all falls into place.
spot on everything will have bad runs, they key is to ride them out and not chase losses
-
@james-woodroffe cheers mate , wise words and I’ll take it on board

Did anybody bother laying Iasi against Steau? Well that's a ridiculous scoreline!

Laid Loko Plovdiv @ 1.65
Re-laid
There's one back. Reduced liability to just less than initial while leaving a bumper payout.
Finished 2-1. Nevermind.

@james-woodroffe credit for sticking with this, you get out what you put in and this is a good example of it. Nice one!
-
@james-woodroffe I’ve actually managed to get rid of that habit mate, filter just didn’t perform for me and I’m starting to question it but probably no need to tbh
-
@ben-dobie cool mate I’m glad it does. Trust me I had absolute shockers of days by chasing losing trades now if they go against me I couldn’t care less because I know that it can be made up quickly but chasing can be quicksand.
-
@john-hurst I did 2 tennis trades the IPL match and 4 or 5 football matches today.

@james-woodroffe just the kind of post I needed after a poor weekend. Well done mate and thanks for sharing, it really does motivate people

I’ll be honest in relation to stakes. I did 5 weeks in the US and got paid overs to what I would usually earn in order to get people there so it was a lucrative trip. I also emptied my Betfair account as Covid and the lack of work took its toll. My better half also realises I know what I’m doing and would rather have me at home doing this so I was able to start again and treat myself to a decent bank. So I use between 5 and 10% of my bank per trade. What I took from having no money in my account was my consistency. The profits were tiny but once I was able to go again I was confident enough to use that % if that makes sense.

@james-woodroffe Awesome post James and validation for all of us well done on the day.
