@richard-latimer apologies as I’m sure you’ve answered this before, but do you cash straight away at the equaliser or do you wait for the winner like Martin’s guide?
I looked at what Martin was doing and amended. I'm back in for the double bubble now.

Gone for a FHG in Iceland with Bowie. AKA Starjman 2.0
Oh well. Let’s see if we get the goal in the 2H at a price worth the effort.
Not even remotely close.

Palestino behind. Managed to get a lay on at 1.76. Quite a bit higher than that now.
They did just about everything but score. Glad I got that 1.76 now.
I looked at that game after the fact and Palestino had comeback 5/5. However in a match between two U.S. teams that turned out to be a treble bubble the home team had come back 7/7. In another match Busan had come back from going down 4/4. They made it 5 then failed on the 6th when they went down 1-2 83rd min.
Nothing conclusive of course but other than Sacramento it kind of fits the narrative.

Goal Machine is simply a value bet. Nothing wrong with that and it's clearly profitable.
But, as Matthew says, there is a boatload of people buying the strategy without them all really understanding the maths (or the fact that it involves two teams with their own particular set of historical stats). I realise that some of the members at UFT do understand these factors, but for many it's really no different to a tipster service.
Again, nothing wrong with that, but it's so much more rewarding (not just financially) to develop your own strategy and style. -
@john-hurst 1 billion per cent correct mate.
I made this point quite a few times on that fb group but there was only a minority that wanted to listen.
As Stuart just mentioned, I'd managed to work out the gist of that goal machine strat in the short time I was on there. No doubt if someone took the time out to work on it a little, maybe put something through the stats software on here and theres a fully working system you've got for free just by putting the hard yards in rather than paying through the nose for it.
And while I'm at it - this is turning into a bit of a rant now so I apologise - it really used to rile me up how people on there used to say, 'it pays for itself in a couple of trades'. Of course it does if you're on £100 stakes. As I said before, it's a really unhelpful place to be for a newbie.

@john-hurst yeah he was in that facebook group and his posts were reminiscent of something from that 'Badman Tipster' fella. It was a bit cringeworthy really, clearly it was a sales pitch for the new strategy that was coming out.
By the sounds of it he made most of his money on the stock market before coming over to Betfair Trading. Although the premise is kind of similar, the events that move markets are totally different which makes me think he's bending the truth somewhat when he claims that his trading is done purely on price movements.
-
From what i have seen from the people selling these 'systems' is that the systems often do work but you need to have the knowledge to manage the systems. Most of this knowledge cannot be taught in a 2 hour long youtube video.

@mull
I joined the facebook page:very little apart from "booms" using Goal X or whatever it was called.
The irony is that people have paid quite a sum for the strategy, yet from the screenshots of Betfair, with a little experimentation, it's very easy to work out the entry points.
The beauty here is that people are encouraged to find their own strategy. Even if that doesn't work out too well, there are a tonne of other successful strategies that are profitable provided by BTC and its members. If nothing else, people who stick around will learn to trade, how difficult it is and the importance of consistency.
If you learn something about the "law of large numbers", that in itself is an education worth having. -
@stuart-capstick I see loads of people on here who have done the UFT course. It says it all really if you spend £450 on the course but then move on to here. I don't use anything from UFT. I didn't spend much time in his forum. Constant screenshots of a few quid and loads of cheap boooooms.
-
@matthew-biggins that Glenn Kirkham went from random punts to trading and making thousands within months apparently. Something doesnt add up there imo, especially as he states most of his profit came from fhg.
-
@stuart-capstick Bro, THIS RIGHT HERE!! It’s amazing who you see come and go over the forum but it’s great more so to see who wants to stick around and who wants to learn. I wax lyrical about the forum but I also get that people have lives and sometimes they fade in out but the one thing I always see and always love is that no matter where certain traders are in their journey there is no shortage of people ever on this forum wanting to help each other out with no ego and no BS I freaking love that about BTC.
