Now I know a lot of people don't tend to post their successful days, so I wanted to post this profit and loss sheet from yesterday showing a very strong day. Still down for the month but it’s been a good recovery. It was a particularly good day for Tom under 1.5 lays, the last week I have been more selective in taking the set and forgets because of a drawdown that we had in early April and yesterday I only took 2 of his 6 selections, off his 6 selections 5 won. And i think this just shows you how difficult it is sometimes with these set and forget you've just got to realise that it is a variance issue and not a strategy that is failing.
Another of the strategies that I’ve been doing the hasn't had a very successful month is the ELO Lay away team and I only took one of the selections yesterday and all four won. Again, it shows you that variance has to be a key factor that you need to address and accept that over the course of a month/ year you're going to have downturns and you just have to accept those downturns and keep moving forward. This is one of the things that I struggle with as a trader, and I think if I can start to accept losses more, I think I'll start to turn a corner.

Does anyone else find that their Set and Forget strategies struggle to most on Saturdays? Always seem to break even or be down a bit across the portfolio. Not sure if there is a reason or if it's a coincidence?

I follow Martins and Tomasz 1.5 goals set and forgets and this Saturday had a full house for Martins and 1 loser from 8 on Tomasz. I use the filters on the site rather than the email so I might have slightly different selections.

@martin-walker Very good post. Also from this weekend with the European leagues coming to an end i am only trading from the filters if matches have something riding on it( learnt the last two seasons which cost a lot of money)
Good news is won't be long until the summer leagues have enough matches to qualify ( especially South American, usa and Japan leagues, the Scandinavian leagues will be a few weeks )

agree. I didnt trade a few winners yesterday which was frustrating but previously would of gone in hard and ended up with egg on my face.

I had a lot of success with the south american leagues last summer and Japan/USA/Scandinavia always had goals.

My opinions on bad saturdays is that its nothing to do with the day of the week.

You can go from a few selections every day to a shortlist of 30 trades on a saturday so your margin for error or just standard losses rises dramatically.

When these losses occur its all in a small time frame so the loss hurts more. If these were spread out over the month more youd be questioning your approach or the strategy itself which is what i believe is the answer to solving bad saturdays.

Start by being stricter with your trades than any other day. Really limit yourself to only a few really strong trades. All of a sudden youve turned terrible days into maybe break even or slight profit days then go from there.

@alex-rule funny enough I was thinking this for my unders filter going to see if there's a way on excel to remove the Saturday games see if it makes a difference to p/l

Please report back and let me know what you find. I seem to love Sundays but wonder about bothering with Sat sometimes!

Just spent 3 weeks in the Balkans- no trading. It's good to be back.

Judging by how April has gone for most of us that seems like a wise decision!
