@keith-anderson I’m still using filters Keith but obviously I’m still trying to learn. I’ve actually been wondering this week how you identify which games to potentially trade as you’re clearly very good at this stuff 👍🏻

here here we would love to know how you select your games mate. Looks like both you and Darri are not really using filters and you are both very successful.

I am using a filter for games not on UK tv, if its on the tv its a potential trade. But the convo on here today is very true for me, the filters are just a guide and from them i look at games closer in play. I do a bit more than just inplay ie key players. However there is always an over reliance on filters and remember the markets already have that data. Sometimes ill take games of from the filter list because i know what im looking for. If a game is on tv ill watch and assess from there. Im very much the same as keith and john in regards to i know what games to look for. Its just come with experience of trading hundreds of matches. But i did a post on my process of a trade on my blog. The spurs game was a prime example it wasnt a filter but still had pre match research as i do firmly know that its a massive impact on my results.

@keith-anderson Gotcha, so the filter gives you the list that you then use and narrow down from the list?

Watching games and getting a feel for the flow of them is so underrated and underdone.

My filter may compliment my thought process. I’ll look at the fixtures and try and predict where there will be goals. That’s still no guarantee that I pick it. Most of my trades will come from games that I’m watching. Reading the play is so underrated, though I’m aware that not everyone can do that.

Also, I tend to only trade matches that I knowledge of the teams or knowledge of the league.

For example, I’ll be looking at the Dungannon v Coleraine match to lay under 1.5 goals tonight. Nothing matched yet, but I’ll be looking lay odds of between 3.75 - 4.00

@keith-anderson I think I do quite well when I spot an opportunity though outside of the filter...for example last night Celtic 2 up inside of 15 minutes, knew they'd been poor this season and Milan had been flying so laid Celtic in the first half market ..worked a treat. I ignored these opportunities for a while but think it;s daft to do so if you have a little bit of understanding of both sides and who the stronger team should be

Whatever works for you. My trading is a little unorthodox, but it works for me. That’s no guarantee that it’ll work for anyone else.

I think sometimes we get too hung up / distracted on what other people do. You’ll learn what is a good trade and what isn’t.

I still look at that filter. It compliments my process. Like @John-Hurst I also have a fair idea of what I’m looking for. Its often hard to describe, but I know it when I see it.

I watch a lot of football. I also watch highlights shows too.

I agree with you on the golf and life front, I think when you focus on something to much it can lead to tinkering with the smallest of things that often times dont actually matter but you want it so much you think they do.

@matt-wood I know what you mean mate.....I found this with golf (I'm a terrible golfer btw) however I found when I was thinking about the game all of the time and how I could improve, walking around the house doing imaginary swings and getting hyped up about the game the following morning I was always terrible, when I switched off the night before and didn't think about it I found my game started to improve dramatically (still not to a good standard I may add). I've found this to be true with trading aswell.

Just make sure you dont hit your little man or the mrs with the 'imaginary' golf club 😉 😂

Its probably true of almost everything, unless you are an elite level person at something, letting our subconscious work on things seems to get success a lot of the time.

@ryan-carruthers Good. Better to have a little time completely away from it. I am in a lucky position where I can dedicate a fair amount of time everyday if I want to. This can be a bit of a trap though as I have certainly overdone it in the past, not actual trades (although done that loads too) but just spending too much time looking and thinking about it. We all need a break from things 🙂
