@james-everard should never have been taking that last pen. Where was Sterling and Grealish?

@richard-latimer If i was English I would want my team to be bold from the start tonight. You are playing at home, you've had a less demanding route to the final and the Italians looked knackered during extra time against Spain. They've had 2 massive games in a row - Belgium & Spain plus the extra time against Austria while England have had a pretty straightforward passage (not having a go rather just stating fact)

A half decent manager would send out a team to win from the start, rather than what Southgate normally does i.e. send out a team where the primary goal is not to lose the game rather than trying to win it. The game against us Scots was a perfect example.

You will never have a better chance than this to win a major competition so you might as well give a real go from the off.

Whilst I don't particularly rate Southgate as a manager I have to agree with whoever said he would make a better PM than BoJo!!

We done exactly the opposite to what we should have done playing ok 1st half then just sat back inviting pressure on ourselves which was going only one way. we just hoped we could hold on to a 1-0 win with no out ball then the inevitable happened. I would have preferred after 45 years disappointment watching England , we would go out and attack the final playing Foden and Greilish from the start and if we lost in 90 mins so be it, they have a 34 and 35 year old centre backs and we had 8 defensive minded players in the starting 11!
Scrap the negative defensive crap and use the players you have to your advantage, Greillish , Foden and Sancho should not be on the bench behind overrated Mount

Completely agree Mount and Sterling both anonymous tonight and dont get me started on Mount

However, Foden was injured and unavailable

Anyhow can't change it. Got to look on and hope this young side can grow. It's comforting knowing that we do have some talent around. I've seen us play best football I've seen for a bit at the national level.

Some great side have Lost pens. And tbh shootouts can be won by sides that weren't the best. Tonight Italy was the best side in the game and they won it. Both sides missed pens.

@simji to be fair we’re usually out by this stage so maybe that’s why we looked tired!

@simji it's not a lottery. 2 in 9 says it's not. The good teams win more penalty shootouts than the others.

@chris-osborne exactly. First half Italy had a player go down injured. They didn’t look up for it, but instead we sat back. First half Kane was winning everything. Second half he barely went beyond the halfway line.

Tbh can blame this and that. But I thought England looked tired tonight than any other game. Yes that can happen without the ball. It just wasn't happening for us. Disappointed yes. But glad we finally made a final
And to go out on pens and not over 120 mins. Is a lottery
