@Adam
Do we have missing data fromyesterday? I have a shed load of bets taken in reality (by both my live Fairbot strats and my BFBM test) that are not in the software. Some of these are not complicated ones either. If its between price a and price b place the bet sort of simple. -
@Jonathan-Jones looking forward to hearing how you get on

Going to be an interesting day today. First day of testing a 100% hands off automation workflow with BFBM (sim mode obviously). Surprisingly didnt take me long to create the strategies so i am sure there will be a million bugs to work through in the morning. Really wasnt sure about how tipster selections and favourite positions 1 to 3 etc work so only way it to try and and see what it does.
If it works then it should make my results much more consistent with the backtest results in terms of non runners for sure (and more profitable since that little problem is killing me at the moment). Then my last consistency bugbear is the favourites swapping in the last few seconds.
#Edit
Well, its running and so far all strategies appear to be actually doing stuff. Bets are being placed on selections at least. Will see in the morning if they are the right bets though.

@David-Hodgson
Try this:
Handicap and AW
Fave BSP > 3
Placing bets from race start actual to 10 seconds inplay.
Bet type is an offer @ odds of 1.5
rules_export(2).jsonYou get pretty much no trades with those criteria though. By guess is that fav odds over 3 in a handicap is pretty rare.

@David-Hodgson You couldn't backtest this strategy in the software, because as far as I am aware, it doesn't facilitate "in-play" only betting
He hasn't mentioned in play in his post, but it's definitely possible to restrict your bets to in-play using the entry time slider.
-
@David-Hodgson you can certainly filter on all weather (race type), handicap races and favourite price (currently this will be based on the BSP).
You'd also want to set your bet type to "Offer Price" and then probably group your results by "Specific race".
You'll then see how many were matched in each race, along with overall profitability.
As you say, you can then play around with different price points.
-
@David-Hodgson You couldn't backtest this strategy in the software, because as far as I am aware, it doesn't facilitate "in-play" only betting. But you could use your three criteria to get all of the data out of the software and then analyse it off line in Excell (other spreadsheet products are available)

Hi there, i've come across a strategy that i have tried to build on the horse racing software but i can't figure out the rules or whether it is possible or not so i thought i'd ask here.
Anyone that can help build this would be appreciated.
So the stratgey is a lay the field strategy.
Looking for all weather courses, only handicap races, where the fav was 3.0 or higher.
If all those criteria are met the look to lay the field.
Obviously can play around with what prices to aim to get matched on lays, 1.5, 1.8, 2.0 etc.Is it possible to create this on the software?
Thanks

@Jonathan-Jones Yes, the URL updates as soon as the daily qualifiers have run.
We could possibly get the software to replace the URL qualifiers for an individual strategy if it happens to be run manually in the builder...
-
@Adam
The BFBM automation url. The selections on that update at the same frequency as the daily_qualifiers download on that tab dont they?Edit~
Thinking in terms of non-runners specifically. -
@John-Folan It fired today, just the one, Dasher Riley I think, so It looks like its working now thanks John

Staking.
Anyone got any ideas for a good strategy?
Currently i use 1% of bank (at the start of the day) as the stake and its not really working out. I am not really getting any bang for the buck as they say.I run a portfolio and according to the backtest i should be up 43 points up. But assuming a 1% stake and a starting balance of £50 only in profit by £8.27 (so only 16 points if i used a flat stake from that 1% of my starting bank).
It gets worse on my live results. Forgetting about the differences because of non runners messing up the rank criteria and the favourite issues (and the odd execution issue) this staking thing becomes even more frustrating. On a points basis i am in profit by 18 points (so assuming that flat stake on my £50 starting bank i would be £9 in profit) but in financial terms i am at -£2.45.
According to the modelling using 1% per bet based on PL at that time would be slightly worse than the above this month (looking at historicals it does vary but long term would be more profitable but also higher DD).
So, anyone using a better method they would like to share?
-
@John-Folan I'll let you know in a few hours John! It wasn't working last couple days but I just looked through it and found another rule (not just in staking) that had the tip import name used, and mine was different to yours, so I've just changed it and will see if it fires today!
-
@Paul-Keighley did that work better?

@John-Folan Sorry to be a pain John, but do you have any idea what's gone on here?!
I imported your bot from the link you mentioned and started a quick trial. Initially it bet on several horses in the same race so I added the "Bet type by favourite position" condition which seemed to fix that, but assumed would have been in the bot anyway, but then it matched Tulekya in the 16:25 Doncaster at 18s depsite the 2.5-6 criteria clearly being there! I'm baffled!Just looked and that strategy was amended. I uploaded this version and deleted the others so not sure how you got my first swing and miss. This takes care of your problem.

@Paul-Keighley I had this problem last week - won on a horse at 22s so was happy enough but put it on the back burner till I get a chance to fix it
