@Wayne-Thomas that's fantastic! Good work

@Tony-Hastie most things can be might be worth asking @Adam

@Martin This is my dobbing strategy that I created in February. 54% strikerate and 7% ROI.
Backtesting shows 54% strikerate and 8% ROI, so looking promising.
Slight issue with matching the individual trades in forward testing but I've recently changed it to allow any number of selections, which shows the same ROI and should eliminate the missed trades due to non-runners.
It will probably tank now that I've shared it!
dobbing.jsonThis is a Bet Angel bot that I use for the strategy, just in case that is of any use to anyone.

@Martin Im doing OK. Havent been able to work out how to put my criteria into the software as yet(not sure its doable) so still doing it manually with the help of a dob stats sheet for the days racing from another site Im a member of.
-
@Joe-Beeston if you look at the criteria in the filter it will tell you if there is anything specific that means it has to be said horse if they are 3rd fav (such as age filters etc)
-
The lay the 3rd fav. Looking to forward test...do we go off the selection on the filter or just the 3rd fav at the off? I appreciate we are going to try and get qualifiers as late as possible but which should we go off? Thanks and apologies if answered

@John-Folan
Everything matched perfectly yesterday. Wasnt a huge number of bets but it did match. Interestingly Fairbot was running on sim and also matched perfectly. They must run sim totally differently. BFBM warns about delayed data, Fairbot doesnt, also BFBM was obviously placing bets at prices that never existed. I dont remember any issues like that when i was using Fairbot in sim mode. -

Changed my refresh rate. It was default of 1000.
Thanks,
Is your strategy more accurate by the way? Meant to ask earlier.

Maybe that's just how the option should work anyway tbh.
The "actual" bit is normally only relevant to the end of the betting window. So maybe if you specify a start time of x mins before the race, that should always be based on the official start, but you have the option of ending betting based on the official or actual start.
OR we could actually just have an extra notch on the time slider and get rid of the official/actual dropdown. So we have "official race start" and "actual race start" on the slider. That way, you could even have a strategy that starts at the official start time and ends at the actual start (basically only trading delayed races)!
-
Sort of. At the moment you can pick a start betting at 10 min before the official start (but then it would stop betting at the official start) or a start betting at 10 min before the actual start (which would stop betting when the market goes inplay - But you cant actually do that in reality because you wouldnt know when the actual start will be).
What you cant do (at least i dont think you can) is say start betting at 10 mins before the official start and end betting when the market goes inplay. -

this software cant specify a different value (Official/Actual) for start and stop (@Adam maybe thats a possibility for the future)
Do you mean use the official start time for the start of the entry window and actual for the end, e.g. "enter between 1 hour before the official start time and 1 minute before the actual start"?

It looks like that has to be the reason. BFBM looks to of placed bets at prices that didnt exist so its got to be something like that (and possibly my low refresh rate making things worse).
Going to run BFBM live today and Fairbot in sim. Itβs tiny money so itβs should not going to be a problem.
That should be your answer then . Sim mode is useless.

@Jonathan-Jones sim mode is pants for comparing results. You're better to run in live mode for micro stakes to get an accurate comparision.

Yesterday i made a small change to import the min/max prices. I didnt remove the selection condition with the prices (I thought it shouldnt do any harm). But,
Its still not matching up. BFBM has too many bets.Example. 16:15 Sandown.
The backtest says it should have the following bets:
08/07/2023 16:15:00 0.24 -5.60 -1.34 Sandown Lord Protector JustLay
08/07/2023 16:15:00 0.24 1 0.24 Sandown Aramaic JustLay
08/07/2023 16:15:00 0.24 1 0.24 Sandown Paradias JustLayIt actually took these plus
Majestic (got odds of 6.2)
Mustazeed (got odds of 7.8)Now those do sound reasonable. The odds are in the range. But, The backtest doesnt have them and my Fairbot Live doesnt have them (BFBM is running in sim mode so not sure if thats the problem).
The backtest tick chart says Majestic never traded at 6 or above till 16:17 (the tick chart doesnt show seconds) which is a full 2 mins after the official start.
Also Mustazeed never traded as low as 10 at all according to the backtest charts. Is it possible the BFBM differences are down to Sim Mode?
I cant take credit for that strategy. Soemone else posted it here a while back. I picked it up, thought it was interesting and added it to my watch list. Its had a couple of good live months now (Live performance is matching its performance when it was created) so i have added it to my running list.
-
Can I also suggest that you all change your refresh rate to 300ms as I have done here TOOLSANDSETTINGS>Monitoring Settings. Its the fastest BFBM can go. Ignore my start monitoring thing. It all depends on when your bot needs to start monitoring a market for your purposes. That's for mine.

@Jonathan-Jones how did the bot go yesterday? The one I made yesterday morning to test the strategy you posted, fired 41 times, with 36 winners, all in the odds range specified. I checked against the results this morning and the bot only missed firing on 4 selections, all of which were at the extreme high end of the odds range.
Did your results match up?
That sounds more promising.
