@alan-steward I wish I had a comprehensive research and data based answer to this but it's been mostly guess work and a bit a fun from me if I'm honest.I can tell you I have had the best joy in the US market in races no more than a mile long. Some joy in the AUS market when it's a handicap race. I also try to look at the odds being fairly competitive so - no odds on fav that is miles away from the others. I like to see 3 or 4 trading around 3 - 6 and a couple around 8-10 in a field no less than 6. Also, avoid the short sprint races.

It's really hard to get any form stats or horse form on these markets. Keep the staking low as well as the liquidity is not wonderful at some of the AUS races, US has been not too bad though.

Are there any posts set up on how to "Lay The Field" (sounds bit of a Debbie Does Dallas sequel lol)

i.e. Qualifying races etc. - I get we lay all horses @ 1.8 but is there any pre Lay criteria which needs to be met... Cheers

Is anyone else thinking of trading the USA racing at Remington Park starting at midnight?

Good luck with that. Those are quarterhorse races run over 1 to 2 furlong distances. If you have never seen one it is worth a watch because it is pretty dramatic.

Not one for any kind of trading strategy though since most races are extremely unpredictable and wide open.

Australian racing is of a much higher standard than the US in general and would certainly provide some angles there to be looked at.

Right now I am pretty much exclusively working on automated strategies for dutching Aussie dogs and horses.

Evening Charles thanks for your valued input . Won't try laying the field in the Usa meet then if the races are over in a flash.
Have you had any success with testing automatically on the greyhounds, as i haven't found a profitable automation set up yet ?

I remember many years ago when England played Brazil in the world cup in Korea. The match was on at 7am and the pubs were rammed by 6am. Everyone was vomiting in the streets by lunchtime !

That was June 2002. I remember being sleep deprived then too, as the wife had just popped out a sprog! πŸ˜‚

@pete-smith I saw them advertised but that was against my plan over waking up at 6am to trade then. May automate my trades giving this a trial of laying the field.

@james-everard I'll just get up early and trade Aus I think

With so many races and also dogs overnight I think there are too many to trade, think I will take your advice maybe get up at 5- 6am and trade a few then otherwise my body clock will be ruined. Can always have an hours siesta in the afternoon .

Ok I will bite on this. What’s the criteria

Min 6 runners and 1.8 as a price.

    What else?

@keith-dow noticed they take 6% comm on Aus stuff!

Hi Martin , unfortunately the Swedish racing doesn't go inplay probably because there is no tv recordings of the events which is a shame.
The Australian horse racing is that 6% commission betfair take on winnings for all customers or just traders based in Australia?
The majority of trading possibilities are overnight at the moment really am considering sleeping insted from lunchtime- evening and trade overnight until we are back up with day time sport from Europe.

Loss on the 2km race in Albany. I do wonder if the longer distances are less likely to give a return. Good shout @Martin-Futter
