As a recent returning member i thought i would give you all some more info about myself, how i trade, my strengths / weaknesses etc. What i can offer to you guys and what i hope to learn / expand on from everyones areas of expertise.
So my job / life is watching horse racing - i literally live & breathe it. I have shares in horses and alongside my job as a compiler, i provide tips to a subscription service and help run a racing club.
So because of this when intially dabbling in trading it quickly became apparent that when trading pre-event i was letting my knowledge of the race and horse cloud my judgement of what the market was doing. Therefore, i decided i had to find a niche aspect of trading when i would have an edge. I decided watching the market in-play that the market wasn't aware of certain horses traits - eg. horses that would come off the bridle early but always respond to pressure. I decided that using my knowledge of how horses run / behave during races was my angle i could exploit. So i have been doing this successfully for a number of years (had break in 2019) however , due to time restraints and opportunites (only trade NH races over fences ) - i need to learn more ways of expoiting trading opportunites.
If you would like me to expand any further or have any questions feel free to contact me.
All the best

Hi mate, bit similar to you mate, was desperate to trade and was thinking about trading all sorts, on very small stakes, but still a bad idea, Iโm perserviring with the ltf trials when I can and also just trying some b2l stuff again for small stakes on USA racing, Iโve noticed prices shorten v quickly out there if you can pick the right ones you can be matched after a furlong, might do a card tommorow night and see how goes, do you b2l at all mate? -
@dan-erridge Hi mate you sound like me with technology. I tried a bot last week overnight and didn't realise you had to have your pc left on with Guardian bots lol.
I am ok thanks , infact much better than I was yesterday. I was over trading and chasing losses and my mentality had gone, watched a video Martin Futter done yesterday and I feel like a new trader today.
I am stopping all the over trading on rubbish , think this lockdown started to effect my mental health, i have realised that now and hopefully nipped it in the bud. Think everything going on in the world makes you worry about your health, and employment etc.
Feel much more positive with my trading plan going forward now, much more sport in the pipeline and I can then plan my trades for each day and hopefully find them trades that will make more profit than losses.
How's your trading overall? -
@james-everard
Evening mate, my pc pissing about, set up my bots, watching on my phone downstairs, thought why has that not fired? Went up stairs and it had all shut down! So just monitoring now,you been doing much? -
Evening all how has the trading been going this evening? The 22.48pm at Fonner park looks like it could meet the criteria if the odds on the favourite increase slightly?
-
-
Only 1 matched in 22:15

@dan-erridge Wouldn't say you need a bot for FHG just enter on Betfair and state what odds to go in at... Stage of trading am hoping to get a fairly solid trade within the horses to add to my football portfolio and then I should be good to go
-
@alan-steward
Lol, true mate, got carried away lol
-
@alan-steward
What stage of your trading career are you at mate? Do ou do over 0.5 fh goal set and forget? That good for a bot aswell as can set it on time or price or both which is good -
@dan-erridge We're now talking football on the horse racing thread lol however for the record I've measured Ryans Split Stake over 5 months and it's profitable!
-
@alan-steward
Lol, no I just think itโs good as it takes the emotion out of it, I.e you set your exits and entry and it does it, no temptation to stay in pass 70mins for example on Ryanโs split stake, -
Yes, but please don't ask for my secret sauce lol
I do run Split Stakes on the bot when they are running in numbers just load the filtered selections straight into Guardian
-
@alan-steward
Do you run any other bots on anything mate? -
@dan-erridge Actual SP, Market Volume & Lowest traded price... However some of the information is pre off rather than post race. Whilst market volume req is pre off that's fine but would also like to record final market volume to see if amount of matched in play affects results
-
@alan-steward
That would be great mate, what data does yours collect from each race mate?
-
@alan-steward
Cheers mate.Ive just set it up another way i think, what ive done is ive armed my trigger 10secs before event start time and kept it until 20mins after event start time, then set a fixed odds condition in row 1 (fav) and a fixed odds condition in row 4 (so we have similar criteria to our ltf bot, then in theory the bot should not arm if fav sp is under my set price
-
Am happy to share my basic bot file for LTF but am just waiting to sort the stored values correctly to record the correct information... Am nearly there
-
@richard-latimer Yeah sure mate... We need to collect a lot more data yet and from there you can begin to analyse weaknesses

Wonder if it might be an historic fixed odds condition?Here you go mate... Set your odds to be greater than what you want
When you select the drop down box for "Nominated" you will see a box to select which position you wish to apply it to... The field will be blank but if you type in "1" and apply it will read "in position 1 (sorted in order of favourtisim.
