    Hi John, noob Steve here. I have been dabbling with Dobbing & my question is, after placing an early £20 trade the odds move & offer a £5 green. As traders do we take that or let it ride ?

    Take the money and run

    Hi John, you mentioned you did scalping pre race. How do you find that? I have mainly been focussing on that the past few months and think finally I am getting some consistency but am still on quite low stakes until I can maintain a high strike rate. Just wondered what your entry/ filters were for certain races?

    I usually go in at range tops, preferrably underneath an incremental to trade off the resistance. Other times I will try and grab a couple of tricks on the confident horses that have been coming in for a long time according to the charts.

    Is this similar to what you do?

    My main scalp is getting a short odds(evens or shorter) favourite. Watching the first four faves in the race and if money comes in for 2/3 or 4 then laying the favourite for a 5 point or better drift. Works a charm. Five ticks is nothing in the scheme of things.

    Alternatively I watch the favourite and if it’s trading between a range and is stable doing that I bang a back and a lay in five ticks apart in the middle of that range. Then just wait to be matched. I’m out before the horses start going down as it can go a bit wonky after that. Bloody effective tho.

    Interesting you mention the shorties, I too trade them but I usually try and look for the steamer opposing the shortie drifting, sometimes its the 2nd, sometimes 3rd. I have only tried laying the odds on fav a few times at higher stakes...learned a valuable lesson, do NOT take them in play.

    Seems in my experience to be the last 5-10mins that the odds on fav starts to drift and like you say, 5 ticks or so does seem quite do-able/safe.

    Get the trading ladder up and watch. As soon as that money comes in for the others it goes. I don’t go too close as I have lots of automation running and it will all go wrong lol

    Yup, exactly what happened to me yesterday, tried to catch a drift on the shortie about 3mins before the off and it just turned and went the other way so had to red up. Will start now looking closer to the 10min mark and try and aim for 5 ticks or so. Have seen it happen but just too late in jumping in I reckon

    @john-folan Thank you very much for putting these on here so regular. I have had such good results just through dobbing them. Just out of interest where do you get this horse information from? Thanks again for putting these up, good little earners.

    Here you go mate. Glad they are working for you. Have a look at the Trob though. Much better return.

    Might be better if doing the trob and win on these. Better return.

    Hi John,

    @John-Folan
    Thanks for sharing your spreadsheet, I was just wondering if it is possible to set up automation (I use Betangel profession) for DOBS and TROBS on the same horse? Is this something you do at all?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Yep I have it set up for the Trob and Win on bf bot. Should be easy enough on bet angel
