Just looking through the daily horse racing email and notice a lot of āmarket moversā when the price has come in over night. Has anyone ever traded these price movements? I used to follow a tipster who posted tips at 8pm the day before the race, and often these prices would shorten rapidly and I could often hedge close to the race off (quick way to get gubbed by the bookies!). Would be interested to hear any ideas.
They're definitely ones to pay attention to. I wouldn't just automatically pile on just because it's moved overnight, after all maybe it's already moved as much as it's going to, is due a correction, etc etc.
It's worth trying to figure out why it's been moving and also looking at the state of the market to see if there's still steady genuine money coming in for it, and also checking the other runners - is there one particular horse that's drifting if this one is steaming or vice versa? If so maybe it's worth taking a position on that horse as well or instead.

@Dan-MacKinnon had a bad week myself but my ones are straight set and forget bets so I expect some variance
-
Normal order has been resumed. I was quietly pleased to have my best week last week. However, yesterday was my worst day of the year. All that good work undone. Don't know about anyone else?
This game keeps you humble!

@Joseph-Henderson often not much liquidity at that time can be the issue, may be worth testing though

@Joseph-Henderson The "*" shortcut does seem to not be working, which we'll look into, but "all" and "career" both work for me.

Struggling to get the scope rule to target a set win rate over the career of a horse. Tried adding an asterisk, or āallā in the box but was getting an error message. Any ideas? Thanks
could you screenshot the issue and error message so we can look into it?

@John-Folan I think that's always one of the things when I see people offer lifetime, they aren't under any really pressure or have any cash left to keep the motivation or software going.
-
Cheeky git at the inrunning trading tool has shut the site saying you have to have an inform sub instead. To be fair I took a Ā£39 lifetime sub years ago and don't use the site anymore as Adam's software gives me everything I need dob wise. But still. Bit naughty that for other people.

I must definitely being doing something wrong because this week has been my best one so far.
Then again, things had been going badly and I was thinking of having to pivot before Cheltenham.
I made back all my dob losses and moved in front on friday, saturday and today. So not a disaster. Scalping wise I had a superb week.

@andrew-page Think Ill be staying away from the horses all together next time round. Its been mentioned here, and Ive chatted to others who agree that Cheltenham messes things up for everyone...except Peter Webb(its good for the dark art of scalping apparently)
Peter Webb is so smug Iām not surprised heās telling everyone how great he is.
If there are 2 things in life that are guaranteed (death and taxes), there are 3 things guaranteed in Betfair trading:
- Peter Webb telling everyone how amazing he is.
- Caan Berry still being bitter about some primary school teacher who didnāt give him their full support when he was younger.
- Hueng-Min Son will score against Crystal Palace.

its good for the big boys laying for thousands but my Ā£50 liability scalping its like trying to chip away at granite with a pin hammer
Dont even try the big meetings anymore easier pickings elsewhere
Cheltenham is a bankroll buster if you ask me for punters every race competitive even with odds on shots there is always some potentials for upsets
