@keith-dow would you suggest around the 1400mtr races (around 6 furlongs) to the mile distance? Just browsing through the markets

I like the 1400 - 1700 distance but it's not an exact science.

Are there any posts set up on how to "Lay The Field" (sounds bit of a Debbie Does Dallas sequel lol)

i.e. Qualifying races etc. - I get we lay all horses @ 1.8 but is there any pre Lay criteria which needs to be met... Cheers

I think handicaps and 6 plus horses. Looks like there might be a distance filter? With the original HRT going up the spout I’ve lost about a month of the forum.

@alan-steward I’ll update the video with some thoughts on strategy. It is a little too vague isn’t it! Ideally I want 7 furlongs to 1 mile, 4-5 trading 11.0 or below, 10 runners plus.

@alan-steward If the winner only gets matched then you lose your liability, 2 matches and it's a small profit. We had one race last night at Will Rogers Downs that hit 4 matches.

Can see it working... Obviously you'll need to get 2 matched or just 1 will win the race and we lose... Winners always drop below 1.8... Or do you trade out of this strat before the race ends?

@alan-steward Also, watch the AUS markets as some tracks have a 6% turnover charge so it's extra commission.

@alan-steward I was using the market to practice scalping and started finding that I was having more joy laying the field (like Debbie!!!). Been trying to drill it down but as I said, finding any historical info or form data has been a nightmare.

@alan-steward I wish I had a comprehensive research and data based answer to this but it's been mostly guess work and a bit a fun from me if I'm honest.I can tell you I have had the best joy in the US market in races no more than a mile long. Some joy in the AUS market when it's a handicap race. I also try to look at the odds being fairly competitive so - no odds on fav that is miles away from the others. I like to see 3 or 4 trading around 3 - 6 and a couple around 8-10 in a field no less than 6. Also, avoid the short sprint races.

It's really hard to get any form stats or horse form on these markets. Keep the staking low as well as the liquidity is not wonderful at some of the AUS races, US has been not too bad though.
