@nick-allan Yep. No selections showing for me today either
-
@john-folan It certainly is, I'm filtering all my strats on day of the week now just to see what difference it makes.

@john-folan Hi John, I saw your comment about backing favs on Saturdays and it got me thinking that I'd never considered that the day of the week would make a difference. I've got a start that I'm monitoring just now which is about laying favs at certain courses and distances so I filtered it by day of the week and it was in profit every day of the week apart from Saturday's. So I dropped Saturday's out of the strat and ran it through the back testing and the ROI went up by 3%! Happy days
Isn’t it great we can just do that?

Anyone scalp evening races? I don’t but they seem massively different to daytime ones. Is this something people have noticed? I’m guessing all the amateurs are out f*****g up the markets
i wonder if its got got anything to do with trackside bookies protecting their liability on the evening races? if they have a lot of liability they made look too offset some on the lay side of the market skewing the WOM?
-
anyone having issue with the sortware? i normally test 5 startegies but ive only got selctions for one, which is unusual is there are a number of meeting going on?
-
I was actually going to ask about how long folk scalp/ pre-race trade. I found I would start losing concentration a bit anytime after 4 and oddly enough THAT was usually when I started making stupid mistakes. Sometimes found that I would get more and more defensive later in the day which at first I thought it was good but I've soon realised you can miss out on decent opportunities if you become too defensive of the profits made.

100%. It's a mixture of liquidity, quality of races, amateur market participants etc.
One specific thing to mention is that the betting for the NEXT day starts getting going about 6pm the night before, so suddenly you've got liquidity being split between the next race today and a load of races tomorrow.
I always used to sack it off about 4pm or risk wiping the day's work out :face_with_tears_of_joy:
I’ve actually always finished manual scalping about then as I’m normally seeing double after 3 hours. Someone always said to me don’t scalp evenings or weekends and you are better off just backing favourites on a Saturday and nothing else. Randomly I stuck that through the software and there is a small profit in it

I also scalp the daytime UK meets and found that when I traded the evening races, it didn't go as well, thought it was just me tbh and then I saw a video of the Webb saying "there's a market for every strategy and a strategy for every market...your job is to marry the two together" as easy as that!

@john-folan Hi John I wanted to ask you a question about your slow horse DOB strategy, the filter does bring up multiple selections and when there's two or three that's not too bad cause I just trade all of them that are above 6 and are below 1000 but there's been sometimes where there's been five or six selections and I was just wondering if you trade them all? This is an example form 20th October:
Some of the selections are way above 100……..and I know that doesn't mean that they're not going to DOB, but is there a maximum price where you just think no I'm not going to trade that? so for example say over 100? Or 200?
I just load the whole lot in the bot. I’m curious as to how high in stakes I can go before liquidity is a problem in the higher odds ones. I’m on £10 and not had a problem yet.

@john-folan maybe there is an angle I do notice that most new horse traders try to tick scalp with zero knowledge of the markets!
I think there is. I’ve always really just scalped Monday to Friday daytime meets. I’m normally seeing double by the last race on those anyway. The liquidity is definitely different.
