@andy-donnelly Thanks.
Yeh il look into it, clearly makes sense if its the fav, much higher chance it will win this time which we don't want. I'm currently trialing this strategy using a bot so will need to create a rule to exclude 1st or 2nd fav at time of bet placement.
Can i just confirm that my understanding of the software is correct though. So by having the filter below set, the results are only for Fav and 2nd Fav, its not the results excluding Fav and 2nd fav? Making sure I'm using the filters correctly.

@andy-harris @Dan-MacKinnon @John-Folan keep us posted of any results as my strategies are ticking over nicely and im intertested to see if a place strategy would work. Keep up the fab work guys

@dan-mackinnon I started looking at this yesterday too, I was noticing that a lot of the members strategy back selections seemed to be placing if they didn’t win and thought there must be an angle to extract more money from these selections

Has anyone looked at any place strategies? I see on the software that it has whether it placed in the results but don't think there's an option to use that within the strategy
It’s being added at some point. In the meantime you can download the individual results and use the place bsp to work out if it’s profitable. I was literally doing this yesterday on my pace backs lol
Perfect. Just done that myself.
I just thought as the information is there, why not use it somehow.

@fraser-cord Hi, I commented on this strategy on the other horse racing strategy thread.
The current pre set lay the beaten fav strategy can be confusing. Basically it’s the opposite to what you said, you shouldn’t be backing any favs or second favs. The rule is back all horses not first or second fav that come up in the qualifiers.
The problem with this rule is that favourite ranking changes all the time up to the start of the race and as such you will have different qualifiers that come up just before the race that may not have been there in the morning.
A way around this is to create a duplicate strategy and remove this favourite rule. Then get your qualifiers from that. You can then filter out the horses that end up being first or second fav near the start time of the race.
By doing the above my results have been pretty close to matching the software.

@martin or anyone in the know - By total chance I have been looking at data on this today. I did notice something unusual. Was hoping I can get clarification.

Hello, guys
I have a question. Are we sure that the software calculate well the results?
Im asking that because on the strategy Lay The beaten Fav today we had 3 trades (2 Wins and 1 loses)
But on the statistics chart the number goes from 9/9 trades to 10/10 trades.Anyone notice this?
When this filter is on (from the default filter of lay beaten fav) this means the software only looks for horses that are Fav or 2nd Fav, is that correct? So it will give all potential selections for tomorrow in upcoming qualifiers (as it cant know who will be fav etc) but will only record results for horses that were in the top 2 on BSP in individual trades that met all other criteria?
Reason im asking, there is no conditions on lay the beaten fav in terms of betting position for the current race (I.e only lay if in top 2 in the betting ), the only conditions are odds range and they were fav last time, is that correct? So should the fav/2nd fav filter be removed?
Also with this filter set (assuming it does only show fav and 2nd fav), im getting individual trades of horses that were definitely not fav or 2nd fav (unfortunately I know as I was burned by them).
Very happy to be corrected so any insight much appreciated

@panagiotis results will differ slightly. Price/runner numbers/the actual selection(if backing or laying favourites for example) can change. The trick is to run two versions of the strategies one called results with all the filters in and one called qualifiers with variables that can change on the day(going/runner numbers/etc) and then use that to load them in and let your bot filter them. You should be as near as dammit then.
There will still be some differences as it depends on price movements and how much money is queued at your entry and exit points but you will be in the nineties accurate and it will iron itself out over time.
-
@panagiotis not sure what you mean 9/9 to 10/10. If you think there is an issue with results of a strategy can you submit a support ticket? Link should be in the op. Bare in mind qualifiers etc can change during the day based on a number of factors, one big one being odds changing.

Today has been a good day in the long journey of trading.
I messed about in December with how I wanted to trade going forward and felt pretty confident. I’ve been disciplined and although 1st Jan was a stinker it recovered well. From 2nd - 6th Jan was either break even or profitable. 7th has been a slight drop. Overall, up in the week.
It reminded me of an extract from Ray Dalio’s book ‘Principles’ where he describes progress as a mini cycle, within a bigger cycle, within a bigger cycle, etc. but the trend moves up. This week is an almost mirror repeat of last month, which when I zoom out is a repeat of last year.
I guess I’m trying to say, stay patient. The software has been fantastic as a guide and predictor for what obstacles and trends you’ll likely face.
That or watching Palace lose yet another home game in the rain has left me searching for any scrap of potential happiness.
