I think I need to watch Gomorrah again. When I first watched it I thought the acting was terrible and that it was a poor man's version of something else that was on at the time.
Everyone else seems to love it though so maybe I'm the one who's wrong!
The real story of the Di Lauros that it's based on is pretty interesting too.
-
@Richard-Latimer Maybe @Adam ?
-
Any fans of Gomorrah the series?
Tough and gritty mafioso drama.
Just finished tonight. Pretty much the perfect ending to a brilliant show I think.
-
@Akiva-Anderson I do so of my own volition. Knowledge is power and understanding of the world around you paramount. Bigotry of any persuasion is heinous.
The interview between Badiel and Margoyles was particuarly interesting as they both had very different viewpoints on some things and of course the same on others.
You don't have to agree on everything but you must be able to debate everything calmly.

Yeah that's a good one. Pretty shocking!
After reading Jews Don't Count some time ago I had wanted to watch the documentary. Finally got round to it tonight.
Very good. Lots of interviews with prominent Jewish people and a few clips showing that some just don't get it at present.
Everyone should be made to read or watch that documentary.
Thank you for doing so

I would recommend Uncut Gems on Netflix. Definitely Adam Sandler's finest work.
-
@Wayne-Thomas Dark is amazing but hella confusing
Thing I read about Sandler is he picks alot of his movies to work with his mates. Can't really fault that. He has a great time and makes a s**t load of money in the process

Watched Hustle last night on Netflix. All the critics love to hate on Sandler but for every few of his films that get panned he does something like this. To be fair I like many of the ones where he gets panned (not all).
He's just such a likeable everyman.
Anyway Hustle was good. Helps if you don't hate basketball.
That's my main problem with Sandler - the guy can act and hold a film all on his own but his reputation is wrecked by the all the junk he put outs. Can't fault the guy's commercial success though.
I've just finished watching the first series of Dark on Netflix. Not sure how I missed this one when it was released, as it's right up my alley. Intriguing story, very well acted and looks amazing too -very moody and atmospheric. It's a great example of a well blended character/plot driven, small town story with a sci-fi twist. Recommend watching in original German with subtitles rather than the English dubbing which saps the emotion from the acting.
-
@Richard-Latimer I liked that one!

@Richard-Latimer I loved Blackbird, He is such a good actor (Taron Egerton).
Great show, clever too. Wife and I were hooked on that for a long time, I love Trying on Apple TV one of my all time favs that, the main man in that is amazing.
-
Just finished watching Blackbird which is brilliant and creepy as all hell.
Based on a true story where a convict was given the opportunity to commute his 10yr sentence if he could get another inmate to confess to murder and tell him where the bodies were.
Watched a comedy thriller called Emergency. Some black teens find an unconscious young white girl in their apartment and fearing reprisal proceed to make a whole bunch of errors.
Bit of social commentary in there.
Decided to watch The Tragedy of Macbeth today with the irrepressible Denzel as Macbeth. Hard going, pretty brutal but decent if you're a fan of the bard.

getting a shag / 'Operation Mincemeat'
Indistinguishable tbh.
-
So instead of getting a shag tonight I watched a film called 'Operation Mincemeat' about how a team of spies managed to deceive Hitler into moving his troops so that the Sicilian Invasion would be a success.
Excellent story. If you didn't know for sure it was true you'd think it had been 100% made up.
-
@Akiva-Anderson That is a cracking film!

Been back and revisited the original Borat film with the missus. She watched it all the way through and I still had to tell her that all the people he interacts with really do think he's a crazy Kazakh reporter.
It's their genuine bigotry to match his own fake bigotry which makes it such genius!
After this she saw the film in a whole different light
"Do not shrink me gypsy"
Sacha Baron Cohen is a superb actor. Loved him as Monsieur Thénardier in Les Misérables

Well I'm watching Yellowstone (3 episodes in). Wasn't sure I was going to like it as not a massive fan of Western. But if the story's good the story's good. And it's good.
I recently watched a film called The Great Freedom. How when the allies liberated the concentration camps a certain group of people within didn't get set free. They went straight from one prison to another.
Excellent film shedding light on what gay people went through before it was decriminalised in the late 60's.
Then I watched a slow burning espionage thriller told through flashbacks with Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton trying to get to the bottom of who the mole was during a plane hijacking situation that went very bad. All The Old Knives.
If you like that sort of thing then it's an excellent watch.
My last film was just the typical Finnish girl meets Russian boy on a train simmering love story. Really held my interest though so if subtitles are your thing and romantic dramas, with a bit of comedy thrown, in don't put you off give it a go. Compartment Number 6.
Currently watching The Northman. Very violent, very bloody. Decent story. 3/5/5 perhaps.
Jesus Christ @Richard-Latimer !! You should try having sex now and again!
