@john-folan Ahahah same!

Watched Ad Astra last night with the Mrs. We really wanted to like it. Lovely pacing to the film, lovely visuals, acting was good... just nothing really there in terms of storyline, nothing to get you emotionally invested.
We knew going in it was a take on the 1899 'Heart of Darkness' but ultimately this has been done better with other films.

@matt-wood not far away at all.
-
@john-folan Mrs and I watched that while we were away last week. VERY late to the party with that but damn what a beautifully made film that is.
Is it true to the book?
-
Just watched Cloud Atlas for the 50th time. Do yourselves a favour and watch it. Or better yet read the book. Stunning.

First three episode of The Wheel of Time are up on Amazon. I hope they don't screw this up.
I watched the trailer and noticed a change, fairly major, already fingers crossed there is nothing else
-
@john-folan Need to watch that!

@richard-latimer I like both but find it easier to get into the US stuff, probably more susceptible to the over the top advertising that makes them seem better!
I like the glossy big budgets and A-list cast that make it feel more like a series of small films haha!
That said, you can't beat some of the Danish or Swedish stuff. Borgen was brilliant. The Killing, The Bridge.

@martin so good isn’t it? I love British Dramas
I'm the opposite with a few exceptions like Luther for example. Generally speaking U.S. stuff gets higher ratings on IMDb and that's my Bible before I commit any time to anything haha!
-
@richard-latimer yes great show that! The rest of the series keep up too

Just finished 2nd season of Unforgotten where crimes are uncovered and investigated years on. Brilliant premise and the actress who played Ruth in Sppoks is always top drawer.
An emotional rollercoaster.
-
@matt-wood no. He’s 50 now so needs to sort himself out.
-
@john-folan Haha yep. Dont get me wrong I think Ryan was perfect for Deadpool but both him and the Rock are just themselves in films.
Predicting now as well that unless Dwayne comes off the juice and drops some weight/size he is going to have some sort of serious health issue in the next 10 years. He did not look good or move at all well in that film.
-
@matt-wood I love how The Rock and Ryan Reynolds play the same characters in all their films
