Honestly iv calmed a bit since watching it. I think i agree with realism side. We got spoilt by the Dot ending and i think we all thought this would be something similar. I honestly think the acting and performances from the other main characters was so good, made us hope it was them instead. If you look at why they chose buckells its because he was probably who we thought had least chance of pulling this off. I just think the fact buckells was arrested and done early on made us not care about him as much, they maybe thought it would be a bigger plot twist than it ended up being because we felt so passionately it was one of the others, feels a bit meh that it was just him. It makes sense realism wise, but it was a crime drama with gun fights in the streets, in a way i think the writers have tried to be clever by giving us a deeper message about corruption right now and leaving the door open for another series, instead of a grand finale of a crime drama.

I’m not sure about realism but it’s gritty and very watchable. I think they could easily go another series, showing how they take down the Chief Constable. The last episode felt rushed.
Agree with this. Almost like there was something else planned and it didn’t come off for whatever reason so they shoehorned in the ending we got.

People point to it being more realistic, corruption lives on and often the most Boris....I mean bumbling characters can turn out to be the worst....but I think the problem is, it was hardly going for realism before. When Dot put his extraction plan into action for example and it resulted in a chase across the city with assault rifles!

It'll be back. Too many loose endings.

@richard-latimer honestly had a lot of hope that line of duty would be better than GOT ending, especially after season 4 was so good with the caddie shenanigans, midsomer murders has a better plot twist every ep
The dot episode was way better than anything in this series. I did enjoy the cliffhanger left when Kate was facing off with Ryan Pilkington then to be honest it just went downhill really quickly. The years and years of build up for THAT!!!
We all agree we are dissatisfied with the ending. Shame as the programme as a whole had some fantastic moments. I think I’ll remember those. “Urgent Exit Required” and Jo Davidson’s interview with Carmichael, Hastings and Arnott being two of my favourites. Carmichael sadly was wasted the last episode after being the stand out for me in the previous one. A truly fantastic character.

@richard-latimer Ha ha, it’s not really my bag but I did hear the uproar after the finale so it didn’t change my mind

@richard-latimer I’ve never watched a single episode of GOT....I’m probably the only person in the country to say that!
And the way it ended I would advise you never bother

Only just watched as I was watching F1 earlier. It was a bit crap! You just wanted something good to happen, I was waiting for a bombshell but it was just ‘oh right, that was a bit average’
Think they'd been taking pointers from the writers of GOT on how to end an incredibly successful long running show haha!

Someone needs to shoot the fuckers who wrote the Line of Duty Finale. What a load of shite.

@john-folan Mare of Easttown is great so far, sky have always been doing well, flight attendant, the third day, chernobyl, gangs of london, the affair, the undoing, the good doctor and of course the massive HBO slots like Game of thrones etc, all have been good watches, underrated at times i feel as a subscription platform for their main channels. I hope they get to keep their HBO license agreement to keep showing all these
Loved Chernobyl. They have pumped out some amazing programs. My wife has NOW so between us we cover Netflix, Amazon, Disney and Sky. Flipping subscriptions lol
