ADVICE

My annual subscriptions I applied for last December for this site and also Betangel are coming to a end. I have learnt a lot over the year from the more experienced traders.
I need to improve on my discipline as I believe my strategies I am trading will be profitable and make me some decent money. I see the green and want more and end up blowing my bank.
I also am not particularly with the times with technology so I think Betangel Professional that I have for my software is good but I am not using to my advantage as I have no idea how to do the auto trading etc.
So I need two pieces of advice do you know of a decent book to purchase to help with discipline ( I have seen Ryan's Videos which are good) but I need more help, and also what software should I purchase which is easy to use ? -
@keith-anderson I know discipline certainly doesn't come natural team me, the transition from an impulsive gambler to being a disciplined trader is harder than I thought. I have improved dramatically the last few weeks, buy got to stay focussed and don't deviate away from your selections for the day. I know my errors just need it drummed into my thick skull!
-
@keith-anderson I agree with this 100%, that's one of the reasons I say write down what you go through when things go wrong so you can learn about yourself and can try and stop the triggers.

discipline
You can read all the books you want and listen to all the advice around discipline, but at some stage you'll have to apply it. I'd be surprised if you didn't already know most it. 'Discipline' sometimes comes to people more naturally than others. I would also be surprised if you didn't already know when you should've exited a trade. Certainly for me, as soon as I've pressed the button I know I should not have got involved. I try and convince myself I've done the right thing. As a Behaviour Analyst it is interesting to see the trigger signs. Having a knowledge of the trigger signs, when they occur and how they occur, is of paramount importance if you want to develop an effective strategy to improving discipline.

@james-everard No worries at all matey, when I got into reading those kind of books I got hooked and went through loads of them!

Any book on mindset is good too matey, the chimp one by Steve peters (not sure that’s how you spell his name) is good I liked that.
I’ve been reading books about Wall Street traders at the moment which are a big help too.
Fooled by randomness by nassim taleb.
Thanks mate really appreciate. I have watched your videos and they have helped a lot but I think a book maybe more beneficial for my mind it will hopefully sink in more. I have improved dramatically the last 3 weeks and I have managed to build my bank steadily by being strict with my strategies and bank management.

It is a great name haha. I am interested in getting a reasonable chunk of my trading automated as being in Australia a lot of the afternoon games in Europe are on between 12am - 4am.
I am working on a FHG O.5 system at the moment that has 300 selections and POT of 5% after commission. I am not sure what sort of POT makes a system viable to bet long term so any advice there would be great.
-
I also saw something on one of the posts the other day about a suggestion for a book about discipline but can't find the post. Could someone confirm the name of the book please

@james Hi James ( great name by the way), I will have a look on the forum this evening and see if I can find out how to do it. I have watched Peter Webb's videos on youtube and everything seems so complicated for me. He is a very clever man and I am not lol.
No many matches on my filters so it will give me time to have a read up. If I still can't get my head around it hopefully some other guys will give advice for other software packages. -
Hi James.
I have gone back to using betangel and previously I was only doing horses and had never looked at automation. This time around I am looking at football and have worked on a few things that I am testing. The automation can definitely be complicated if doing anything too tricky but I have found the best thing to do is join the betangel forum and they have a stack of filters you can just download and people you can ask advice from.
You don't even need to use the filters but can pull them apart and see how they work.
