During the previous couple of weeks I have noticed that some of the selections have been steamers in the last couple of minutes before post time. If any selection steams in by more than 1 whole point, then it would be advisable to get out and take a small red before they go in running.
Please Note: Anything over 7.0 should be layed at half stake, max lay price 11.0.

@charles-cartwright
Thank you for your excellent input Charles.
Of course you are quite correct. However, for the purpose of this trial period I chose to use just the raw data for laying in order to encourage maximum loss. After all, if a profit can be made using no fixed liability, then it remains quite obvious that long term gains could reasonably be expected when using a fixed liability for a limited loss and better long term profit.
Stay green

Mike:
Just wonder why you are laying your selections to a fixed return and not a fixed liability. You can see how a couple of bad runs can really crush your bankroll and create massive volatility.
Laying horses to a fixed return rather than a fixed liability is a risky proposition and actually will minimize your wins and maximize your losses. If you think about it the entire philosophy here is the opposite of backing horses. You want to maximize the green on relatively short priced lays whilst minimizing the liability on longer priced horses (ie you are looking for value in horses priced too short). Backing horses is the complete opposite and so fixed staking is clearly the way to go.
Whole idea in this game is to squeeze out variance and by fixing the liability on any kind of lay based system you are doing that.

It was clear to see that both the winners were travelling strongly throughout. Four from home it is hoped that some of you traded out for a small red.I have still put them down on the worksheet as winners.

Many thanks for your post. I am aware of the facts that you have mentioned. Although it is less of a risk I concur, but I feel that laying them as I do may turn out more profitable for long term gains.
This is only the third month and it could be deemed as a trial period. If needed I shall reivaluate when we reach 500 races.
Whichever way you choose to use them it is hoped that your bank will continue to grow.

Hi I am just starting out with small bank and I am using your Lays on the place market. The reward seems to be the same as that you would receive for the win market but for considerable less risk. I think in all but a couple of races when your picks lost they were also outside the places. Seems to work!
best of luck , might be a better way i think

Fair comment. However, that would mean missing opportunities. Avoiding a winner now and again is impossible, besides if I had to choose one then I may have chosen the winner.i just meant leave the race alone
