Hoping draw hits 30’s and back it for England’s INNS
-
In a good spot but yet to green up. Think I’ll give it 20 mins after lunch 6.0 is the lowest I’ll let it run.
-
Couldn't have worked out better. Hope everyone is making lots of dosh
-
Working out very nicely. You could just sense things changing.
-
Starting with a nice sized green thanks to that wicket. Really can't see this finishing in a draw.
-
@richard-futter got it at 3.70 does seem short.
-
Things livening up; 3.65 looks way too short to me so I'm having a small lay of the draw now.
-
Looks flat at the moment, so I'm resisting the temptation to lay the draw just yet. Something under 3.5 would be nice.
PS. I misled everyone earlier on; India did win one Test at The Oval back in 1971, when one of my favourite ever cricketers Faroukh Engineer kept wicket for the tourists. How could I have forgotten that?
-
@richard-futter scores more runs than him ? Yes he seemed an obvious selection. Odd
-
Good decision from Root to bowl I would think, although it can be risky at The Oval; any rain will be very limited according to the BBC weatherman a couple of minutes ago. A light shower maybe but any loss of play can be made up at the end of the day, and by Sunday and Monday we're talking hot sunshine, which makes the omission of Ashwin a stinker of a choice. I don't know what he's done to upset Kohli but it must have been very serious!
-
@clare-taylor didn’t hesitate to lay India at 2.92 could be a tough day for India and they are also without Shami which could be huge. If the draw gets to 4 or under will definitely be laying it.
-
@james-woodroffe I’m shocked at ashwin too, I’m at work so just had a quick scan of the teams and the toss.
-
@richard-futter saw the draw at 4.50 about 9am and should have had a lay there but was busy and didn’t get on. Still no Ashwin find that fascinating.
-
@Richard-Futter no, we are looking at the same forecast simply my pre start thoughts and perhaps not explained well enough. It does look dry all days but rain is possible on some days. I was, in a short way saying that draw lay is too high for me at the moment as there is some even if slim chance of rain, India has big motivation but poor history so not willing to lay either team before the off either.
As you say the toss will be an interesting one this time round, I’m a little busy today so I’ll probably leave any trades until day 2/3.
-
@nathan-bennett Good for you, re the lay in yesterday's T-20. I noticed that someone suddenly layed £7k against Bangla at around 10 when they were obvious winners. Surely a bot gone crazy, costing its owner £70,000!
-
@tom Have you been looking at a different forecast to me? The BBC says dry all the way - but it's going to be overcast most of the time so I think the draw is a brilliant lay in this match. Draws are rarer than hen's teeth at The Oval and India have never won here, so an England win looks by far the likeliest outcome.
Even at 4.8 I would say the draw lay is good value - especially if India bat first - although as always will be aiming for something under 4.
Will be interesting to see whether the team winning the toss will bat first. Once again, it might be a good toss to lose. And will Ashwin play? He definitely should as he's someone who could spin England out in the final innings; he's much more of a threat than Ishant and a far better batsman too.
-
How is everyone feeling about The Oval this morning, India traditionally do not have a great test record at Lords but they will be after revenge from their defeat at Headingley so motivation on their part will be huge.
Weather looks to be ok but rain is unfortunately possible on several days.
Won’t be making any pre start trade, will just be waiting for the toss and see how the game settles in.
Good luck all

Really enjoying the CPL, if anyone’s not traded it before there are some really predictable price movements in it, huge overreactions to wickets particularly in first few overs.
-
They don’t happen often but it does always pay to have a tiny sprinkle on laying the tie in white ball cricket. Entered the Trinidad v Guyana match late with Pooran at the crease and backed Guyana at 3.15 with the expectation of some lusty blows and laid the tie at the same time. Removed liability at 1.94 and when Pooran fell held tight as Romario Shepherd can seriously hit them. Greened up after some lofty blows for 2 points and removed the red on the tie lay leaving 4 points on that. Match obviously went to a super over so a decent 5 or so overs.

Good old Super Over in the CPL today.
