@chris-osborne Oh wicked, where are you based?
I agree, especially for me as a non cricket watcher.... if I was to be able see the top players here it could spark me to get into this more as I could see this in the shorter format.
I loved seeing some of these players then now they’ve gone lol

Same here the other direction

Growing on me was incredibly sceptical but once I stopped watching BBC’s awful coverage it improved.
Doing a huge amount for the women’s game in terms of profile but not sure there’s a need in the men’s game for both the blast and this. Also why the hell have we got a 5 match test series going on at the same time as this depriving the tournament of the best domestic players other than the first two games.
If it’s to be taken seriously as domestic franchise tournament to compete with the ipl and the big bash all the best home players need to be playing.

I LOVE the hundred how good is it!
Absolutely loving it. Was brilliant at the Ageas last night mate. Incredible atmosphere, and the Brave won which was a bonus!
I imagine its very tricky to predict the swings trading wise though. Some big totals chased down, some small totals successfully defended etc.

@matt-ayles it's hard for other sports to compete with the juggernaut that is football but I remember the Ashes being on Channel 4 in 2005 and how talked about that was, amongst the whole nation, just doesn't happen when it's all taken off free to air.
-
@martin i have noticed this with other "complicated" sports. They do their best to try and make the scoring as simple as possible for those who don't understand cricket, but in doing so make it more confusing for those of us that understand it!
I've certainly enjoyed it so far, and it can only help to promote the sport... i agree they should show all the games, even if it was on red button, just to allow full exposure.
It's similar to what ITV are doing with this Sunday racing programme. The sports are in a bad place financially thanks to Covid so it's nice to see the terrestrial channels doing something to promote sports.

@chris-osborne haha I've had no broadband until yesterday so have been stuck with the BBC on live TV. Kind of wish the whole thing was on both as I think the BBC could really help get more people watching, as it is the odd game here and there is a little confusing as to how teams are getting on overall etc.

@chris-osborne my main issue is the scoreboard they use on the TV coverage, you want to get the casuals involved but then use an interface that makes it hard to work out what the hell is going on!
I quite like the speed of it but think time outs etc are not needed, becomes more like a T20 with those breaks, they should just keep the flow going throughout the innings as much as possible.
I agree about the scoreboard, strategic time outs do my head in in the IPL I think there completely unnecessary there are enough stoppages in cricket as it is.
I have warmed to the tournament a bit especially the youngsters like Jemima Rodrigues and Alice Capsey over the last couple of days the experience the younger player are getting is probably the main benefit although still dont see the appeal that most others are seeing.
Changing coverage from BBC to Sky helped as the bbc coverage is awful and full of gimmicky rubbish and dreadful presenters/commentary

@matt-ayles nice one you following a team? I'm going for Manchester as I live close to there and know it well.
Good trading match last night with a comeback against the odds, looks like it's even easier to turn things around quickly in the hundred as getting bowled out is even less likely than Twenty 20
I will be supporting Southern Brave as I live in the south, and I'll be going to the Ageas for matches.

@matt-ayles I really really enjoyed watching it last night! Was a cracking match at the oval!

The Hundred starts tonight. I have been looking forward to this competition for a while now. I have tickets to a few matches.
Will be interesting to see the sorts of liquidity the markets get on debut. I imagine it may be similar to when the IPL started?
