English bowling looking a shade more dangerous this morning.
-
All about RR req and showers for aus mentality of chasing
Who knows marsh might come up the order thats what 'd do if captain ha
suspect if rain delays at stages and RR req creaps towards 4's well draw could be fav -
@Richard-Futter amazed draw isn't much shorter, market not realise Aus would be delighted to draw and shake off the England would have won if it goes 2-2
-
Raining just now; happy to keep those Aus lays in place.
-
There's some really nasty stuff heading from the south west just now. Unless there's a sudden change in direction, we could be in for a repeat of yesterday weather wise. If that's right, then the draw really should be favourite. Can't back it now though, because then you're stuffed if wickets fall quickly this morning. Wait and see for me for the time being.
Either way, there's no way Australia should be anywhere near odds on; any amount of rain and they're going to settle quite happily for a draw and a series win.
-
my books not a complete disaster surely wont be a one way street for AUS
draw market swings could scalp on wickets back to lay styles through out
so long as rain threat at times is still about
and the run rate new batter is quick early (shouldn't be) -
I m balls deep with me Aussie lay so hope it pisses down all day!!
But think people forget overcast and grey creates swing and movement, it also difficult to bat in and outfield will be slower! Even with a full days play its 50/50 so bit surprised Aus are 1.84, saying that I have enough in the risk pot without going in again! Just hope for GREEN!! Good Luck everyone! -
@Stuart-Wallace I’m currently up in central London and can confirm it’s definitely raining. The Met Office has it as dry but my wet work clothes says otherwise! It’s really grey here so doubt it’s any better a couple of miles down the road

From Cricinfo this morning...
9.40am: Morning all, quick update on the weather. There's been plenty of rain around the south of England overnight, and every chance of a delayed start - although it is currently dry at The Oval, just the main cover in place and the groundstaff going about their business. So keep your fingers crossed -
ive checked on radar, and looks like we could get first session in, then a big splosh of rain between 2 and 3, which could basically wash out most of the session.
Should AUS lose 2/3 wickets in first session, then dont think they will go for it in last session needing, say, 150 to win.
So, might look to exit my back of draw, then re-enter circa 13.45. -
As Nathan mentions,Oz still need 2.5 sessions to get the runs, 1) will they get those sessions? 2) will they go for it? 3) the way that Khawaja and Labuschagne batted 1st innings i doubt a run chase 4) dont forget ENG can place negative field settings ( i know its not their style).
im staying with my draw back for time being - if the start is delayed by an hour then i think AUS will just bat out the day and take their 2-1 win. -
It looks unlikely an entire session will be lost but there will almost certainly be interruptions and possibly a delayed start at The Oval.
Whatever happens we should bear in mind that Australia still have an awful lot to do. Only once in their history have they managed to chase down a total of this magnitude in England - and that was 75 years ago when their team included the greatest batsman in the history of the game.
If they do it today I will take my hat off to them and say well done, but there's still every chance there will be twists and turns before the fat lady sings.
