England W need a record chase at Derby to catch 244... the highest chase I can find at Derby is around 180.
NZ have been taking early wickets in this series.England are still favs at 1.75 so look a good lay.
At this stage its looking like a successful world record chase! There were opportunities to green up mid-innings, hope you had some success!

@dan-mackinnon mate I’ve just seen that the Royals won!! F me! My wife had her first day back in the office in over 18 months today and when she got home I just walked away with Kings needing not much at about 6 an over yes Nathan is right mate laying low late you never know what’s going to happen. I think I feel a bit sick now.
-
@james-woodroffe something I noticed which had the potential to be huge was Nathan’s point about laying low odds. PK were 1.01 just before the Pooran wicket. With the way things were going it made sense they would go on to win, but it’s never a given with that many balls still to be bowled. In the end it quickly drifted in the last over and was above 3 before the last ball was bowled.

@dan-mackinnon nice one mate and pretty much spot on. I got into trouble when KL Rahul launched the newbie in the 4th over and my position quickly turned Red. I had stayed on the Royals back because 186 is a pretty steep chase and was just looking for 1 wicket before the openers settled. RR bowled well to start with (first 3 overs) and the run rate was already over 10. KL got dropped on 2 and that could have changed everything (never mind the other two times they dropped him) the 16 off 3 balls in the 4th over changed everything. I got out for 2 points Red and then clawed it back as PK hit the 10 over target and were never bothered after that. It’s a tricky one for me to gage getting KL cheaply changes the dynamics of the entire innings letting someone of that quality off the hook does likewise.
Well done tho mate you read it really well -
Today’s IPL game was a great learning experience following on from James, Darri and Nathan’s post. I didn’t trade it but was making a note of the odds every time something happened.
1st innings, batting team was going well by the 10 overs mark. Odds around 1.6. Once they started hitting sixes as Tom said probably would have been a good exit as it dropped down about 1.3 before a bit of a collapse but made it past 180. RR finished innings around 1.64.
2nd innings, slow start so odds dropped again to 1.54 as James suggested. But Darri’s 2nd bit of advice to compare the batting with the 1st innings, PK were roughly 10 runs ahead with no loss and the 10th over really went for it. Backing PK would have been good as they were around 1.50.
As they pushed on, Nathan’s advice of laying low odds for hardly any risk at this stage. Once they hit 1.10 it was then jumped up after a wicket to 1.3.
Finally, the temptation to fanboy trade Pooran was avoided.
Is that how you guys try to trade T20? Also thanks so much for sharing your advice!!

@tom seemed like a call because they really slowed down at the end there

@tom that's a good point. I'm not actually trading it, but I've got the week off work and procrastinating when I should be studying and had the cricket on in the background. It was just that a few people had posted their cricket strategies yesterday
I laid PBKS at around the same time as @James-Woodroffe for 2.37 and greened up when they hit 4.1. I tend to not wait until innings close as sometimes you get another opportunity to get back in, odds can shoot right up if you get a couple of sixes but sixes are usually followed by catches, as is happening now. Lay odds are back down to 3.3 now and with 3 overs left RR are likely to hit 200 which will be difficult for PBKS to chase.
I'll not be getting back into this until PBKS innings now.
-
Before the Covid interruption RR had an unhealthy reliance on Jofra Archer to take their wickets without him it will be interesting to see who stands up as PK have a pretty decent batting line up so the Royals will really want 200 here.

@dan-mackinnon I backed RR at 1.64 after 8.3 overs with the score at 2-83 for half stake. I re entered after 15 overs for the other half stake at 1.44 and backed O 187.5 for a half point also after 15 overs. I’ll let this ride into Kings innings if RR continue at this rate and look for early wickets before the openers settle. If the openers settle I’ll green up or remove liability depending on the target.
-
@dan-mackinnon yes mate, text book, I prefer to lay bowling team, it is too late to get in now
-
The IPL game currently on. Is this the sort that you would look to back the batting team? Roughly 90-2 at 10 overs and their RR currently is 9.71. Then look to exit the trade at the end of the innings?
-
@james-woodroffe that's really good info!

@dan-mackinnon just to add something. Historically if you bat first and score 180+ you’re winning more matches than you’re going to lose and if teams are looking at 100 runs in the last 10 overs and a side is 1-80 after 8 I’d enter then. I wouldn’t necessarily wait till the 10th over. Like wise if I don’t enter after 10 overs I can always enter at the 15th over if they are 4-130 or just before when they reach 130. 10 runs an over for the last 5 will still see them hit 180.
