The market seems wedded to the idea that this match is going to be a draw, but I reckon there could be some tasty lay prices tomorrow. Even today, 1.64 seems a ridiculous price.
India have batted well today and look like they're trying to set a big number. Even with a full days play missed (if that happens) the way they've gone about their business today I'd fancy a result.
After looking at the Weather forecasts, and knowing the weather patterns of the area, i get the feeling that they may well get in a couple of hours play during tomorrow between the showers and thunderstorms. If they can also gain an extra hour a day on days 3,4,5, then we are close to getting a full 5 days play in. As i said earlier, i think India will likely declare with circa 470 on board early on day 3 (unless, of course, they decide to bat as long as poss with a view to bowling SA out twice - however, this tactic may be slightly flawed should they adopt the latest strategy given the option of a follow on, and bat again . Thats something to be aware of.)
TBH, with the exception of De Kock,Edgar and Markham, the likes of Petersen (test average of 14), VD Dussen,Bavuma, Mulder are not quite Smith,Amla,Kallis,ABDV,Du Plessis !
Plus also, India have probably one of the best Test bowlers in Bumrah at their disposal too.
TBH, i dont quite understand the LTD odds, quite boggling to me, and feel that most people are believing that there is going to be a total wipe-out of tomorrow, without understanding the possibility of extra play on the other days, which all look good. In my view, SA will likely have to bat for best part of 3 days to get a draw - which will take a lot of doing.Oh, and also, Centurion is known to be a pitch which gets quicker as the Test goes on.
-
SA’s batting to me does look a little thin and India has an awesome attack. They’ve set themselves up where anything less than 400 will be deemed a disappointment.

No Kohli statement innings then
-
Does anyone else think given the fact he’s been canned as ODI skipper and seems to have an issue with Ganguly that Kohli could be in for a statement innings? Draw price is looking a tasty lay that’s for sure will be interesting to see just how juicy it gets.
Entered at 1.74.
Home sweet home after a day at the in-laws. Looking forward to more food and drink before a power nap this evening and day 2 of the Ashes. -

@stuart-wallace ruled out for the series.

Just noticed Nortje isnt playing - assume he is injured?

@stuart-wallace brilliant
Missed the 1.5’s
Still seems a good LAY THE DRAW and more of back to 1.6’s -
(SA) Weather looks like holding out for today, and maybe get in a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon. Weather for days 3,4 and 5 look like being full days, so, could be a 4 and half day Test what with some catchup hours on days 3,4,5 maybe - so, in the end, probably not a lot of play lost overall.
Can see India getting close to 300 today, and maybe 400/450 early on day 3. If they do get to 450, lets say, and get 2-3 wickets early on a helpful pitch after a bit of sweating after the rain then can see the Draw odds going out - hope so, else i am on for a big red !
Lesson learnt from this one - dont place any trades until at earliest the morning of the match. !! -
I had laid the draw in SA around 2s so early wickets would help. I'm working today and its going to be very busy in the sporting world so just gonna let it ride a few days.
That's the beauty of test cricket, it can all change in 1 session. -
Forecast looks pretty yuck today and tomorrow from what I could see. Day 3 and 4 look really good tho. Def looking at sub at 1.5 on the draw lay, if not less.
-
@richard-futter appreciate that !!! And yes I get the price feel lays at times there’s a point when ya just fire

@richard-futter are we laying 1.8
I'm not at the moment Nathan, but only because I'm trying the work out what the heck is going on. Price now down to 1.68; if it gets anywhere near 1.5 I won't be able to resist. But I certainly wouldn't deter anyone who does want to trade at this level.
As far as I can see it probably will rain later today, and there could be a fair amount tomorrow, but the final three days look pretty clear and at this time of the year there is plenty of daylight to make up time later.

Draw price in to 1.82, which seems astonishing as there's no sign of any rain yet. Punters seem to be convinced it's going to rain for a couple of days, considering Centurion is a good draining ground these days. I keep thinking the draw price must turn, but not so far.
