Gower is just one of the worst pundits around, why sum up the situation in 10 words when you can use 50. Talks a load of drabble.

First thing I see is a green pitch in NZ
Need to check temperature forecast Christchurch cause unlike the the last venue where got hot and humid drying pitch became easy bat on, Christchurch is a way colder joint and suspect could be more in it for bowlers for longer periods
Nothing much doing market wise at the mo
    No angles me yet

IRE imploding - lost 5 wickets for 29 runs. At 160-1 they were cruising.

@stuart-wallace greened up a while back on Windies match. Think Ireland are gonna run out of steam.

Good call. I had laid them early and removed liability when they went 4 down but looks like it'll scratch as they've recovered really well.

If the weather holds, i think this is going to be an extremely tough day for England to survive. Hameed and Crawley are walking wickets, nos 5,6 and 7 are all crocked , and with 3 No 11's , this is going to be very, very tough. Think it will need max of 2 sessions to see them off personally.
Thought Pope did well behind stumps, especially with the Root bouncer !

I had wondered if perhaps the lack of intensity from the Aussies bowlers last night was intentional, knowing there will be more in it for them in the morning session.

Looked through previous 22 years of tests here, 5 out of 24 matches ended in draws, 2 very much weather effected with a full day and 2 full days play missed, another with sessions lost on day 1&2 which left 2 draws both between Aussies and India with much higher first innings totals

I'm definitely not ruling England batting the day out, I think they are starting to show the grit required but there is definitely a long day ahead of them.

I'm happy to lay the draw, confident there will be at least one occasion where momentum will switch back in Australias favour and i'm just assuming now that weather will not be an issue.
