@stuart-wallace Livingstone didnt even bowl dont see the point of picking him at 8 get a frontline bowler in there
-
One thing i notice is that Will Jacks, who , effectively, is Englands 4th choice spinner behind Leach,Livingstone,Root has taken 3 wickets - well done Will, both him and Brook will become ENG stalwarts for years to come.

Been looking forward to the start of the tests. I've traded the England one well enough, but this Aussie one has frustrated as I've missed all the good entry points due to being asleep lol. I've not lost anything, but one thing I've learnt this year is you have to actively follow if not watch cricket live in order to be a profitable trader. A few times I've queued up bets overnight thinking I'd wake up to green and found its gone totally the other way. Needless to say i don't do that any more!
yep, learnt my lesson the hard way in that respect, backed NZ V BAN for a tidy sum and fell asleep, only to find by morning that i had lost all my money, so therefore only trade when awake, or when i know it wont shift much (like today with AUS V WIN ).
Thats one of the reasons i am going to Spain today for next 20 days, in order i can trade through the night and sleep in late, then watch the Footy WC ! -

@matt-ayles yes
please dont be out here

I'm hoping the Windies hang in for a bit and make the draw lay attractive.
As for the England test, is this the worst pitch for bowling ever?
-
AUS seem to have set a gettable target here (although it would likely be a new World Record in doing so - and i cant see Windies having the resolve to do it) - however, one possibility is that if WINDIES do start to get close, then AUS will use defensive fields/tactics to ensure they dont lose ?
-
when do we LAY WI
-
when do we re lay ENG ha
-
Draw is getting layable again...Can WI bat for over 150 overs? Unlikely, and if they do, they will be pretty close to knocking the target off. I'm going in at 5.5
-
AUS WI
AUS LAY 1.06-1.12 tick
Now see where this equity takes my book
prob look to square it up when my greens half to two thirds of maximum possible
regardless been a great startBanked a bit more 1.26
1.5-1.6 prob see me square book -
@stuart-wallace Thank you so much for your kind and also very detailed and informative response. It is much appreciated.

Greetings to you all.I cannot help but notice the low odds for laying the draw on Pakistan vs England ? Is this a smart play or not?
Not at moment Matt, its clear that the pitch is a road and totally unlikely to deteriorate that much to give much assistance to bowlers, as show by the 2 opening partnerships so far, so i think we are all in agreement that its likely to be a draw. Only thing may be in scalping a few ticks on wickets, but judging by the fact that the net runs scored by both sets of openers exceeds 400 then you could be waiting a long time. Thats why we all veered towards the best play to be Laying England when they were evens , the thought process being that ENG only had 4 front line bowlers and that it clearly was a batting paradise.
My thoughts re the game are that PAK will also score in excess of 600 by start of day 4, and England simply will have to bat out time - and this is where there could be a chance for PAK to wheel out their spinners on home soil , but judging by what i saw in the first innings, that is going to be a tall order. -

nice quick WIN wickets, just dripped a bit more LTD - figured that windies will likely be 300 behind and put back into bat around or before tea tomorrow , no way will they survive.
letting my ENG lay run at moment with small green, will look to take out liability should PAK reach EOD with 2 wickets downEven better, EOD with 0 wickets down and their best batter still to come - its clearly a batting paradise, and both sides will struglle to take 10 wickets , let alone 20.
Plus my guess of 300 behnd was close. AUS at EOD are 344 ahead with 2 full days left - so, declaration between lunch and tea some 525 ahead, and WINDIES have to bat for 4.5 sessions - just not in their make-up or skill level.
Luvly. -
@kevin-ray Kev, its a good thread this one, full of like minded people who generally get it right (although there are the occassional blip!).

I have never traded cricket.
As someone who has just joined BTC I have been reading through the forums and everything on here.
I read the cricket thread at just the right time as people were discussing the opportunity to lay England and the pitch looked favourable for a long innings from Pakistan also.I entered a small trade at just above evens and took my risk away at 3.1 and have fully greened up for a small profit at 5.
Just wanted to tip my hat as a thanks to the chaps on here that enlightened me to an advantageous trade that I would have otherwise not have got involved in. Thanks
-
@richard-futter a bit of low bounce though. What price for a chop on for the next wicket?
-
PAK ENG drip greening up
this about donecould back to lay draw on wickets if obliged

Must be soul destroying for seamers bowling on a surface like this. It's possible the sun will cause the pitch to break up on days 4 and 5, but I'm not convinced either side has a world class spinner capable of making serious inroads into the opposition batting.
