@nathan-bennett Nathan, is the Perth track as flat as scoreline suggests?

@nathan-bennett Not a very attractive price just now at around 6, but a Pakistan lay looks a pretty safe bet. It's hard to see how they're going to take 20 England wickets with their attack on this surface.

Could easily see the draw being odds on today.

Only a handful of balls but already obvious this is going to be a batsman's paradise and, with no Afridi in the Pakistan attack, England really ought to rattle up a big first innings score.

England batting first. Foakes the only player out. All three results in play here.

Match goes ahead as planned, although England might be missing a player or two

According to CricInfo if the match is delayed to a Friday start it will remain a 5 day test.

I believe a decision regarding Englands test match will be made around 230am UK time... (730am local to Pakistan).

I find the ENG team selection to be a bit odd.... Livingstone effectively being picked as 2nd spinner ? and batting at 8 !!
Duckett,Crawley are going to be walking wickets in this environment, and therefore ENG will likely be 1/2 wickets down very quickly.

    Briefly reading posts
Yes intrigue in draw market for a back if AUS bat first for a swing
A real hard 1.10 to lay to soon I think
    Can’t wait

Draw went from 24 to 12 , and imo ,likely to fall a little further , maybe 9/10 before AUS declare after Tea on 2nd day then it will start shooting up again once Cummins,Starc start making inroads into brittle WI batting.
Can see a finish inside 4 days for this one - should AUS enforce a follow-on.

Good to have Test cricket back after a too, too long absence. The Aus-WI series looks a foregone conclusion so hard to see any value there, but the Pak-Eng three-match series should be a close fought, rewarding affair.

Traditionally, draws are very much the order of the day on the benign Pakistan surfaces, so the question is whether 'Bazball' will make results much more likely. Certainly England are fielding an ultra attacking side which hardly looks likely to be batting out too many draws.

So normally, a lay of the draw around 3 would be very tempting. Sadly, though, illness in the England camp has thrown a spanner into those particular works... for the time being at least. There is even talk of the match being delayed by 24 hours and reduced to 4 days. Light fades very quickly in these parts in the late afternoon, so if that does happen I would expect the draw price to plummet faster than Wales' World Cup hopes.

Definitely worth keeping an eye out for proceedings at Rawalpindi tomorrow morning, altough with the match due to start at 5am UK time, we'll need to be very early birds indeed!

@nathan-bennett was just going to ask whether a back of Yes on completed match was value given they only need to come back out for 2 overs...

I get mixed reports on various weather sites.
