From the BBC...
'The close-of-play score of 506-4 the most runs any team has ever scored on the first day of a Test - and England only faced 75 overs. If they had been afforded the full 90, their scoring rate of 6.74 would have got them to 607.'
This is new trading territory !

i'm running with a small red on both games at moment, if AUS take 2/3 wickets in first session then that will change.
ENG game....hmmm, now this is a scenario not seen before....500 runs on first day. Means we could be looking at a declaration half way thru 2nd day with 700 on board !
Thats massive scoreboard pressure.
This means that PAK will likely have to bat for equivalent amount of time to get to , say, 500, to avoid the follow-on (although England wouldnt enforce it anyway).
So, still 2 days to play, and England to bat again, they would look to make PAK bat again for another 1.5 days to save the Test. !!!OK, Rawalpindi pitch historically gets flatter as the Test goes on, i am just wondering what this scoreboard pressure will do.
My England lay i am a bit worried about tbh.
Forgive my ramblings. -
@nathan-bennett I'll have to assess the odds etc this evening, see if there's a good entry point. Not looked but assuming England are less than 2.0...
-
ENG 1000 by lunch tmr ??? This amazing
-
No entry for me yet. Can see England posting a number here... will monitor but certainly a low lay of England would be nice before Pakistan bat.
I may be able to wait until close of day 1 for that.

AUS WI
Market doesnt quite want to budge much more at the mo
All red out me now 1.2
Free rolling a good result aus lay
Going to hold this position until draw stupid low and or wait for WI to bat second time round and fire another aus lay try to double it again 1.1-1.2 example and then green up some pointENG PAK
ENG Lay 2.06 i jumped in would take my red out at 4 and assess
and
prob re lay eng 1.5 if happened first before 4.0 -
@stuart-wallace IMO it wont be for the aussie bowlers they will extract plenty WI looked like just waited for declaration and aus fire power so so good
that being said tho so far great fighting WI with the bat
im on aus lay 1.1 have dripped some back hoping 1.3 remove all red and bank some green be nice -
wow 1.08-1.16 AUS already
no suprise 2nd and 4th INNS will be fastest moving markets here
draw under 5 be something consider launching a lay
-
Just woken up and read through all the comments. Also checked the lineup and agree that England are extremely light on bowlers. Will Stokes be fit enough to bowl 20 overs in a day?
It's good that the draw will be a very attractive lay price but as you suggest, will either team be capable of taking 20 wickets? Is the play to lay England at odds on instead of the draw? Although the way we've started the batting run rate, this could be any number?
In the other test, Aus declare 2 runs short of 600. That's some knock.
-
Get the feeling only the fading light towards the end of play can stop England scoring 500+ on day one.
-
considering PAK scored over 200 for no wicket on day 5 the last time they played at Rawalpindi this might be a good call.
-
@nathan-bennett In total agreement about the England lay. This pitch isn't going to change greatly and England only have three specialist bowlers; unless Pakistan bat very poorly indeed, it's equally hard to see the tourists bowling them out twice.
-
@nathan-bennett Nathan, is the Perth track as flat as scoreline suggests?
-
wow,Bazball continues.!
-
finally home having proper look and feel to eng pak
awesome its on fox here in aus aswell
whats catching eye potentially is laying eng odds on for a swing
-
@nathan-bennett Not a very attractive price just now at around 6, but a Pakistan lay looks a pretty safe bet. It's hard to see how they're going to take 20 England wickets with their attack on this surface.
-
-
Could easily see the draw being odds on today.
-
Doesn't look like Mohammed Ali packs much of a punch.... boom boom
-
Only a handful of balls but already obvious this is going to be a batsman's paradise and, with no Afridi in the Pakistan attack, England really ought to rattle up a big first innings score.
