I think patience will be rewarded as 83 overs is a lot to bat out. I can see Eng price going up to 2.5+ if more wickets don’t come early. I’m drip backing Eng from 2.0, with the targets of 1-2 wks this morning, 3-4 in the afternoon session and up to 6 in the extended evening session.

@richard-futter i was also encouraged a little yesterday by Broad’s comment of maybe having to be prepared to lose in order to win this test. The changing of the order signals intent. I think they give them selves 10 overs also. 5 an over will make the lead 269 and sets up a fascinating days play. I can’t wait.

@dean-adams said in 2020 Cricket Trading Thread - Updated Thread:

Morning all. I’ve been reading this thread over past few weeks as I used to follow cricket quiet a bit until other interests took precedence. However I would like to get back into it for trading.

Just wanted to run a couple questions past the people in the know about today’s cricket.

I’m thinking England won’t be happy to declare with the current total and so are likely to bat until lunch? So am I right in assuming the draw may shorten depending on run total? Or is it possible it’ll stay steady?

With this in mind, WI will either have to come out swinging or we’ll have to get quick wickets for that price to shoot back out again?

Sorry if it’s sounds daft just wanted to see if I’m reading it anywhere near or if I’m way off the mark

They won't bat until lunch. Around ten overs I reckon before putting the Windies back in. WI definitely won't come out swinging either. A draw means they keep the Wisden Trophy, so they'll be more than happy to take things steadily and see how things develop. In my estimation though, the pitch is doing enough to give us a positive result - or at least a very close thing which should see the draw price drift nicely.

The timing of the declaration means everything today..... I'm encouraged by the way Root has changed his batting order to make quick runs. I'm hoping they'll get a lead of around 275 and give themselves 85 overs to bowl WI out. That then gives them a chance of getting a second new ball if it gets tight in the closing stages. An England win on the cards for me 🙂

@sameer mate how's things , no particular science for me on outlay just what I'm comfortable with . guess the first question ask yourself how much willing to lose . but something at times I've tinkered with on entry exit points is around half dividends/odds
    say
    100@2 lay 50@3back
    if were to lay again
    [email protected] lay 50@2 back
again no specific science and obviously cant keep laying forever

@sameer said in 2020 Cricket Trading Thread - Updated Thread:

Hey guys,How do you divide your stake when you drip lay & what percentage of your bank roll do you use in laying the draw?

It’s a bit dependent on the situation really, if you are looking to get in and out quickly regardless which way it swings you could effectively use a little more stake maybe 10-20%, as you are never truly risking much more than 2-5%.

If you are holding out for the longer term (or are happy to do that if it goes against you) then I would drop that to 2-5% liability.

I tend to back at a certain price and drip lay my liability out of the market. I’ll usually do it in ten drips but sometimes if the green is where I want it I will just green up at that point regardless of how many drip lays I have made.

A lot of it has to do with comfort if you are uncomfortable you need to do it differently.

are you guys still going with the lay the draw? my liability is 32 as i was drip laying, if i lose that then i am finished. 11 overs left today eng should make 100 and declare , and try to have a full day tomorrow to bowl out WI. they batted so dam slow in their 1st innings

Can you clarify this? Are you saying you have risked it all on one trade?

The way this pitch is playing now, I think 250 will be too many for the Windies.

Would we really declare with 250 lead though? Guess for me it may be a case of waiting to see what we do.

If you are finished from any particular single trade losing then you are almost certainly over staking. I would recommend reading the BTC articles on Bankroll Management, and staking less in future 👍
