@darri said in The road to full time:

Thanks for the replies guys! Really looking forward to todays trading, with the india vs pakistan game being the highlight, plus a couple of good games in the football today.

@Keith-Anderson i actually got the idea to do this from one of your previous posts, i think its a great idea to find consistency in your trades.

I actually trade less now. I guess when I was building up a bankroll I was in a hurry. Now that I've hit a comfortable bankroll I can a lot more selective with my trades.

    @darri

Best of luck to you!! Don't really have any great words of wisdom other than stick to your plan and set realistic goals. Lots of smart people on here who trade the sports you seem interested in so plenty of knowledge to absorb!

2nd day and we are on a roll, been in a good mindset this weekend and been getting in and out of trades at the right time.

Cricket first, from the outset i thought india looked value, with just a slight concern of how the opener rahul would do coming into replace dhawan i decided to wait. Clearly i was wrong so felt gutted to be missing out on some nice green on india. Turning to the old faithful of the 1st innings market i was glad to eat up the 310 at 1.9. Again at around 28 overs i managed to back the 320 at 2.0. Started to close out trades when rain came and nice profit. Betfair collapsed in the pakistan innings so decided to just watch rest of match instead.

Football was simple, massive fan of Scandinavian football and there goal markets. Molde 1-0 up at half time checked the stats on 365 and showed good activity. Watched for first 5 mins of 2nd half and plotted out my split stake approach and came away with a nice average odds before goal was scored.

Another profitable day albeit a quiet one with only 2 markets actually traded.

@keith-anderson Thats a good way of looking at it and doing it as an exercise. Protects the downside you know you can build it up again so the mindset going in again is there.

When I matched my salary I started trading again with a £100 bankroll. Inside 6 months I was up at my job wage. It was definitely a worthwhile exercise. It showed me that if I lost everything I could start again and be self sustainable inside 6 months.

    Best of luck

Best of luck, make sure you get on twitter as well, plenty of full time cricket guys on there, look past the noise and the ramping but some fairly good stuff, if you can learn CMM, then you are laughing.

Healthy 4 points today, having a bit of clarity that you know your gonna be posting results was a positive today.

Both cricket games featured heavy favourites so not offering great initial prices. Went for the 1st innings totals as these are often the only way to go when there is a lull in the price movements. Backing 320/330 for aus when finch started to get moving and with the knowledge that maxwell and carey were still to come out. The complete opposite in the SA game as afghan coming up against a proper set of bowlers and just not coping.

Football tonight was in the womens world cup. Had canada marked down as value before the game, watched there previous game and thought they looked solid with pacey winger in beckie. Lost 0.9 points in the first half trying to catch a goal in the 2.5 market, but having watched the first half close i was sure canada would go on to win. Goal came within minutes of the 2nd half starting and cashed out for a nice profit. Wasnt planning on watching the rest but canada continued to press and didnt time waste so decided to back the next goals as NZ looked weak against a more physical attack. Another point profit.

Good start will show more of my pre trade thoughts, felt good having a more flexible approach to the games today.

One tip that forced me to change my mindset was on betfair at the top right where its shows your balance, turn it off. Since clicking that hide balance button its allowed me to focus on the trades. I countless times would look at my balance and watch as its went up and down. Knowing how much up or down you are for every minute of the day is so harmful. Dont get me wrong at the end of the day ill have a look and subconsciously ill know if im up for the day based on the trades but mentally not knowing exactly what that figure is helpful if your in control of your trading. Small tip but has significantly helped my trading mindset, which at the end of the day is the biggest influence on your trades.

    Starting bank: £1000

Will be using a points system so 1 point being 1% of the bank. I will recalculate end of every month. Im not an aggressive trader but not scared to back up my edges when there is significant value on offer. First trading day of the challenge so will post results in morning as its a saturday and im still a student so gotta make the most of it. Will likely have a trade on the womens game tonight been in profit on the tournament so far with backing goals before end of each half as the defences are shocking.

Any tips and advice from traders looking to go full time or are full time would be great, already trying to set personal life things up so that im ok if this all goes to pot.
