2018 Pre Match Scalping Thread

@ian-lydon i list all the games i'm interested in on Sunday then throughout the week i will analyse them all, some move and you have to make a judgement based on trend analysis, i would look at tomorrows games this evening once money has settled, I operate on a 3/4 tick stop loss in early markets, then on the day of the game my stop loss is 2 ticks.
-
so then long term trading of a pre match market...lets say game tomorrow....would you look at price when ?......i know about team news etc hour before often effect games getting on that price doesnt seem to be easy as often it has moved before you can get on,..then when on...it re traces sometimes...but i could see that when a market opens and look for long term movement that may be something i could spot....i take it u guys use S/L quite tight?
-
@frode-lia @Ian-Lydon Frode is right but for a starting point, keep to liquid games, try looking at the bigger teams for a basis. Then see if you can spot a trend, sometimes you can just recycle 1 tick if you have a market like the current Tottenham market. Chelsea have room to drop but looks to depend on team news a little here. There are many different filters, i also collect my own data.

If you see the first 1/3 of this chart, I thought it would trending down, and often it will continue down. Here it was flatining out though.

@ian-lydon I use simple technical analysis and trend following. If you see the first 1/3 of this chart, I thought it would trending down, and often it will continue down. Here it was flatining out though.

Hi guys you seem to be active in the pre match markets....what filters do you use to select potential pre match movements?....or is it a case of match favourites steaming with some over reaction?
-
Yes, agree. The orderbook was no more than 38% this morning. That was a bit of a surprice for me. Thought more money was going to come in. But have been a good week on the pre games.
I am watching Inter and Sevilla today.
-
It can be, but difference with Betis market and this one , is Everton market flatlined more, so Betis continued to drop. Agree that letting your green trades go for as long as possible is the key to trading.
-
@luke-ridger Yes, true. But over time I think its better to ride the steamers for as long as possible.

I am backing Everton @ 1.91 with 20 pts stake. 3 pts stop loss. Trend is pointing south.
Sorry, 3 ticks stop loss, not pts.
No movment in this one, can go eather way now. So getting out @ 1.90 with one tick green.
1.88 was a green up opportunity this morning for Everton.

@luke-ridger Still in this market, not seen the real move yet and 10k holding the price up, which looks to be fake money.
-
@frode-lia all over this!

I am trying to get in some stakes on Betis around 1.77-1.78. With a stop loss around 1.82
Liquidity is coming in and the price is heading south. 1.71 as we speak. Are inn with 20 pts divided on prices from 1.78-1.76.
Drifting south. 1.66 now.
Got out @ 1.63 with 20 pts in. Made 2.9 pts green.
-
Great trade Frode

@luke-ridger indeed Always was going to when the main leagues and money came in! Buzzing to get on these again

As this thread seems to be alive again, eyes on Chelsea at 1.85, Arsenal flattering to deceive, so think this one is feasible for a drop, 3 tick stop loss, drip liability out as it drops but maximise winning trades and cut losing trades.
