A general read about probability, but quite good fun:

The Black Swan - Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Where he's really good is the tendency we have to find logic in random events. I think we can all relate this to trading because we can't stop ourselves from try to rationalise chance events.

Another of his books is Fooled by Randomness. In some ways, this is probably the book most relevant to traders, in that he makes the point that a decision can be perfectly rational, well researched, yet ultimately unsuccessful- we've all been there: 48 SOT, disallowed goals etc and.....0-0.

He's also a bit of an intellectual troll (very irreverent), loves Popper(just for the craic, I reckon) and actually understands a lot of ideas that other people pretend to understand. You could imagine him being a laugh on a night out or good fun as a travelling companion.

    Ego is the Enemy

Ive got into reading a lot more of the last year and moreso the last 6 months. Im not quite as avid as you yet but i manage to fit in what i can! I drive a bit with work so i use audible aswell, even if its just half an hour at a time.

Ive only read 'thinking fast and slow' from your list. I started principles but couldnt get into it at the time so its one ill come back to. I tend to read a fair bit about financial trading & business, not so much textbooks but things like flashboys, the stories of enron, lehman brothers etc, the greatest trade ever, man who solved the markets etc etc. I also enjoy reading about successful people/companies and seeing how they came about, recently the Netflix story was a great listen. Lately ive been getting into reading various self-development books; so things like the The Element, Essentialism, The One Thing, Think and grow rich all have good lessons in them. Unfortunately im not always great at retaining information so i should really make notes as you do. Ive listed a few below that are well worth a read/listen

Personal Finance - Rich Dad/Poor Dad, How to own the World, 4 hour work week
Trading - Trading in the Zone, Complete Turtle Trader
Personal Development - Limitless, The One Thing, The Element, Think and grow rich, The Compound Effect
Random - Smartest Guys in the room, Bad Blood, Perils of perception, Freakonomics, Thatll never work

Hi guys, I'm a newbie when it comes to trading but I'm an avid reader. Last year I read over 100 books (mostly thanks to being furloughed) so although I can't offer any trading advice yet, here are some book recommendations:

    1. Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday (I see Martin recommended his other book The Obstacle is the Way) - Each chapter focuses on a lesson from history. Ego has a whole section on failure and how to handle it.

    2. Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman - Goes into how our brains deal with information and decision making.

    3. Thinking In Bets by Annie Duke - similar to the above. Focuses on decision making and probability. Written by a professional poker player.

    4. Principles by Ray Dalio - interesting concept on his learning cycle and how selecting the right principles drives his decision making.

    5. Turning Pro by Steven Pressfield - very short book but talks about the mentality change from someone pursing something as a hobby vs as a career

All of the above should be on Audible. I have pdfs of some so if anyone is interested let me know and I'll send it over.

If anyone wants to talk more about books, either relating to trading or not, I will happily do that all day. I have a Google Drive folder with notes, lessons and reviews of the books I've read - it's basically a 1 man book club (yes, I'm aware how much of a nerd that makes me sound, my girlfriend reminds me often enough!)

“Greed moves the goalposts” - Ryan Holiday

@keith-anderson will add it to my list.

Currently reason The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday a great read for changing our natural negative mindsets when things get in our way!

Someone mentioned 'The Slight Edge' by Jeff Olsen as a good read. At the minute I don't have time to read, but I found a 'Summary & Analysis of The Slight Edge' on Audible! Cheating I know, but it's a 30 minute summary - I'm going to download it later

Alpha Mind is a podcast series I've been listening to a lot recently. The whole series is worth a listen but episode 4 is about "military grade mindfulness" which I've found pretty useful as I start to prepare for the upcoming trading sessions.

I've been doing lots of reading lately as I try to understand more about trading / betting in general. My recommendations are:

The Perfect Bet (Adam Kuchar) - really interesting stories about people trying to develop winning systems in sports / casinos.

Trading in the Zone (Audible) - as above posts

I've read these, but not sure how valuable they are if you know the basics -

Sports Trading on Betfair (Wayne Bailey) - nice down to earth book and some tips.
Betfair Trading made simple (Caan Berry) - not sure much of any use in there, but first book on subject I read

    I'm currently reading -
Programming for Betfair (James Butler) and Betfair Trading Techniques (James Butler). Not formed an opinion yet, early days. Not a fan of code listings.

My BIGGEST recommendation, not trading specific, but for general problem solving -
Pig Wrestling (Pete Lindsay and Mark Bawden). This is about seeing a problem for what it is and not what you think it is. Recommend to everyone.

@gary-finnigan 100% its worth reading. I got it on Audible so i just listen to a chapter at a time, as and when i have 20 minutes. It makes so much sense to us and the things we all do, even though its mainly aimed at stock trading
