Can I ask you guys whether or not you think that trading offers longer term benefits than matched betting, I’ve come over from matched betting to give it a try, early days, but definitely down on bankroll, due to inexperience, but overall what’s your thought on matched betting versus trading, as a potential second source of income, would welcome peoples comments, advice. Thanks for reading my post.

@brigitta-nagy I assume you don't want to hear from me and Ryan as we run the place but look at @Darri's thread for a really good long read about this
Thank you Martin, I will check Darris thread.
I m really interesting for any success story from you and Ryan also, if you have time to share some advice with me. But I watched nearly all youtube videos from you both. -

Hello,
I would like to read success stories.
I start trading again and again, and I know it's possible, just I do something different than profitable traders
Is there anyone trade for living?
How long does learning, practicing take till that?
Did you focus only one sport and practice till success and go for an other market later or started with different sport in the same time?
Do you do any trick, meditation, anything for being mentally strong and balanced?
What is your advice to beginners?
Thank you -
@martyn-hemmens trading is a skill that can be learnt, as such it takes time, I wouldn't count the initial hours for profit, think of it like school you are learning something for the benefit of later on.

@lee-woodman
Many thanks for your views, much appreciated, started to get hit with the gubbing stick, and was looking to other avenues, the trading aspect really caught my eye, started to watch the utube vids, and doing some research has really blown my mind in its possible complexity, or simplicity if you think about a simple trade, buy low, sell high. Thanks again for your aspect on the two systems, i will take your advice and work the two along side each other. Hopefully i can get a little more proficient at trading, enough to relinquish matched betting, as I'm spending far too many hours for smaller rewards.
Thanks

@martyn-hemmens best way to describe it is this, matched betting is finite, trading is infinite
that's a brilliantly concise way of putting it!

@martyn-hemmens Matched betting is something you just do and is a great source of income. Ive done it for years, and continue to do so, and i do well out of it so wont be stopping yet but there has definitely been a decline in it and there is a shelf-life with it (obviously multi accounts helps prolong this). There is only so much you can learn with it and then its all in the hands of what offers are available
Trading is far more scalable and has much greater longevity. As long as you successfully adapt to any changes then there is no end in sight and no limit to growth (within reason). However, the flip side is that it takes a lot longer to learn and a lot of hours need to be put in for very little return....like an investment of time if you like. I tend to loosely compare it to going out and getting a degree in that you put lots of unpaid hours in, learn the skill, practice for no return, lose some money along the way but at the end you have an education in something which has the potential to offer you a great way of life and that is when you start to reap the rewards financially
Personally i would suggest to someone who is interested in learning to trade is to just balance the 2. Matched betting is great for the initial money but learn trading alongside. The overall net result is that you are making money but also learning a great skill which will pay you in the future

@martyn-hemmens it's worth learning trading for the long term as you can make money off it for life, what you will find (unless you are willing to open multiple accounts in other people's names continuously) that matched betting dries up. Give yourself a good 1-2 years to learn trading properly, stop putting money on until you are confident in it (as trading with a lack of confidence never ends well.
you may already have seen the members who do well from trading on here and they are the living example of successful stories trading, use matched betting while it last for you as it's well worth doing (it's essentially a new way arbing off free bets which has been a part of trading for years) it's not one vs the other but you have given me a good idea for a video!
