Does anyone use the Poisson method to help them with pre match research?

If so how do you go about 'getting it'? On a game by game basis for the ones you are interested in or a huge list of data?

so far a good weekend, looking at around 6pts green but then there is still Nacional vs Maldonado to come for either a sh goal/lay the away team if 0-1.
