If ever there was a match that hinged on the weather, it's this one. The even odds on both the draw and the England win reflect that perfectly.

With the forecasts, it's a question of you pays yer money and takes yer choice. If you believed the Met Office you'd be backing England, but if you trust the Beeb more, you'd be lumping on the draw.

I expect some big swings today and there could be good profits on offer.

10.30 is a good time to get involved. That's when the TV coverage starts and if it's raining at that time you can be pretty certain the draw will shorten quite dramatically. Looking at the radar I'd say that's a pretty safe bet - so if you're brave you might want to steal a march and get on the draw now.

On the other hand, if it suddenly looks much brighter than expected the price is likely to go in England's favour.

Should be a good day for trading, if a rather frustrating one for viewers.

This test has turned into a drabfest. Root could have declared alot earlier with rain forecasted.

ENG almost got to 2's not to be .. today will be about partnerships balls faced before trying to gain some ticks . Second innings same thing

may be a cat and mouse game with the weather but 17 wickets may not take long

100% low risk .. there some weather around today ? could easily be potential for t20 scenario trading low 1.10 out to 1.20 .. will all be feel and usual time at crease batters comfortable

With rain forecast for the last 3days of play. Would people consider a lay on England at some point knowing they still need 17 wickets in that time to get a result? Pending them enforcing the follow on.

With rain likely on the final three days, if Pakistan can bat solidly for the final overs this evening I would expect the draw price to shorten quite a lot.

For what its worth have had a little lay ENG .. thinking factors of weather and paki top 4 maybe enough quality there to see market get 2-2.2 before copping a small loss if ENG hit 1.3-1.2 ... could be long term so be it ... also back on the t20 topic of late for those starting out dug up some my history on bigbash and almost half the time the 1.10 fav went out to 1.20 food for thought low risk stuff . cheers

@nathan-bennett Looks like being a battle for survival for Pakistan for the rest of this match. Should be fairly clear of rain over the weekend, with Monday a day of showers, but Tuesday looks well dodgy. Unless England can score big today and skittle the tourists out cheaply, it could still be difficult to force a result. If the rain doesn't materialise it's hard to see beyond a home victory. All in the lap of the weather which makes trading long-term pretty difficult at the moment.

nothing gained or lost day 1 .. whats the feel on the weather lads .. looking at market possibilities thinking when ENG go 6-7 down say could be a decent lay and 30-45mins into PAK innings maybe lay again thinking ENG get to evens before 1.20 .., i say that pending weather on my side if went this way . Else ENG just look home
