Friday 14th August.
Think my trading career is over. I had a max loss deposit on my account for a week and took it off again thinking that I could control myself. Stupid mistake. I am a gambler and I dont think I can become a trader. I have 3 4 maybe 5 good days trading and things are going well, then I lose a few pound and I chase it. Then lose some more then chase some more. Just lost £350 inside 20 minutes. Firstly on O sullivan then on Barcelona. Down now to £50 in my account from £580 last weekend. I am going off for a while and dont know if I will be back or not. Good luck to everyone.
Such a shame to hear this. Hope things pick up! If you really cannot shake off chasing then I guess a break or leaving it makes sense. The problem with chasing is it will never end well, you can get lucky for a while but eventually it will catch up with you. Easier said than done but the only advice you can really take here is ‘don’t chase’ plain and simple. Try to think every time you are tempted how it will always end up, it will end up with a huge loss eventually, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Once you remind yourself of that it can be avoided permanently I have found myself.
I always think it’s the saddest thing in trading when someone who has trading talent just cannot kick the chasing habit. I hope you do manage to kick it one day and if you don’t end up doing so I wish you all the best in your future!

@eamonn-hogan hey bud,
If you want to send a message on the private coaching myself and Martin will help you get to where you want to be bud.

@Eamonn-Hogan Such a shame to read this mate as you were doing so well. I cannot claim any knowledge on trading as I am a newbie, other than take advantage of the community fully. Such offers as @Darri has made and the private coaching would really help you I am sure.
Seems like you have an addictive personality. Trust me when I say you CAN change this. It is hard, no doubt about it, but it can be done. I have worked with many clients in the world of fitness and nutrition with the same personality about food, they just couldn't help themselves. But I helped and, with a lot of hard work from them, saw many of them change habits of a lifetime, so it CAN be done. Back to basics was something I used to advise. Keeping it simple and small steps. I am sure the same can apply to trading.
Don't give up if this is something you want to beat. Always get up one more time than you fall down and you will win Chin up.

@liam-willis perfectly put mate, slow and steady, gradual increase in stakes as you grow more confident that your strategy works long term. Trying to learn trading when putting money on regardless if its money your prepared to lose or not is a hard battle mentally. Taking the time to paper trade to feel confident in the process then minimum stakes will allow you to develop as a trader. Then you will reap the rewards long term as you have the knowledge what your doing works. One strategy to work on at a time then start branching out.

@eamonn-hogan hi mate, iv just read over some of this thread. I think your trying to become a jack of all trades instead of honing in and mastering one at a time. I had a gambling problem for years and found it so difficult to turn my hand to trading. What changed me was focusing on one sport and one strategy. Once you know the ins and outs of your strategy then you can improve. This process becomes x10 harder when your trying to dabble in so many markets and sports, this then helps the discipline which is the biggest hurdle in your case as was mine. Id be more than happy to help feel free to message me and can work on helping you build something going forward. Id rather reach out than see another trader leave again without trying to help.
i second this mate i realised a little while ago how important it is to concentrate on one thing at a time. find the strategy you are most comfortable with and work on that. i also dropped down to small stakes and stopped recording daily profits. you have almost got to treat the money as an afterthought . when you are confident in the strategy then start upping the stakes and thats when the profit counts. its sort of training yourself.

@eamonn-hogan Sound like you have exactly the same brain as me mate. I have been gambling for years before starting trading 18months ago and i just can't stop myself. I can stay disciplined for a week then i have a bad day at the work ( which is most days ) and my mentality goes out of the window. And i never seem to learn my lessons
I am going to have a trading spreadsheet set up and record my results this is my last chance. I am hoping that this will help with my discipline and i have just got to keep off horses and greyhounds they are dangerous sports for me to trade. -

come on why y stake to big
sometimes i have 5 loosers in a row but only 5 points that coming back next day you go all in?I know I shouldnt be staking so big. I put a big bet on o sullivan when he was 13 all and looking to go 14-13 up. As soon as I placed bet he missed an easy ball and let selby in.

@eamonn-hogan Do you have a copy of the results of the overs?
@Matt-Wood Same to you bud!
I'll give them a look through see what I can see
Only a handful of results with new filter for the over 1.5. I was up and down on my last filter and i deleted it before I started with the filter tracking again. This time around is something similar in terms of results. Its on my spreadsheet.

Just caught up on this Eamonn. Seems you are doing ok Keep it up.
I know what you mean about the feeling lost and not having a clear path with trading. Somewhat in that place myself at the moment. Greening overall but not having the structure I feel I should have.
How are you playing your over 1.5, I have a couple of filters for this too and am up to around 50 games tracked for each but not sure on the actual trade part.
Stay green and stay away from silly bets
Cheers mate.
The over 1.5 strategy is up and down. Many a game I have on my filter has a goal too early. I am tending to eliminate the red and keep trade open. Monitoring it to see if that is best or not.the over 1.5 goals never go to be a good one , then better looking for 2 hf goals and stick to it

I was hoping to let you and Martin have a look through the private coaching as I feel like I am reaching a point where I need to tweak something or that there is a pattern I am missing.
