AFL Season 2020 yep it’s going ahead
-
Gentlemen, I don’t know how and I don’t know why and I most certainly do not know for how long but tomorrow sees the launch of what will be the strangest season in the 123 year history of the AFL formerly known to us middle aged Australians as the VFL.
Trading the AFL is something I’ve been considering for a while as I think it’s a sport that’s well suited to trading for 2 reasons. 1) it’s reasonably high scoring and 2) it’s prone to momentum shifts and fluctuations in odds given the scoring system. This season sees a 17 round home and away season with everyone playing each other once and for the foreseeable future behind closed doors. It will be crazy seeing the opening match between two of Australia’s most supported clubs being played in an empty MCG. The main trading strategy I can see in the AFL is one well suited also to NBA basketball and that’s laying bad teams who open up handy leads over considerably better sides and by handy I would say around the 25-30 point region. Sounds a lot but trust me it isn’t. Also laying the favourite in the first goal scorer market could be well lucrative. AFL is as mentioned a reasonably high scoring sport and the beauty is pretty much anyone can kick a goal and they come quite frequently. The main thing is parity, a draft system and salary cap has resulted in the equalisation policy where every team over a period of time much like the NFL goes thru periods of being outstanding and crap. Every year throws up the surprise team and every year one team with big ambitions get smashed by injuries and fall off the cliff so to speak, so on the eve of the season the big questions are who will be those teams.
Anyway if anyone is slightly interested in trading Australia’s biggest sport and has any questions feel free to ask away. It’s not the best season to be getting involved because the crowds are such a huge part of the game but the game itself is bloody unreal -
Dam it was played at 3am but that Essendon v Fremantle match would have been perfect. The Bombers 24 points up start of last quarter and won by 6.
As would the Adelaide v Sydney match. Might have to have some early starts in case the later matches don’t offer the opportunities.

I may have made a small red but Jesus Christ seeing Collingwood play this morning even to an empty stadium made my heart sing in these most odd of times. It’s the only thing I miss apart from my brother of not living in Australia anymore. I seriously hope that football in this part of the world returns sooner than later. The lack of crowd was surreal but it did kinda pass. Anyway BT Sport are loading up on AFL given there’s nothing else really going on.

Good previews on FlashScore for tomorrow’s matches also.

@ryan-carruthers yep and they’ve broken my heart for years so they may as well drift out in the 2nd half so I can get some green before they get the job done.
-
@james-woodroffe Can't help it at those odds, bloody bargain price.
-
@ryan-carruthers I’m quite surprised mate. I’ve laid my boys at 1.05 I couldn’t help it. Now well over 300k in market.
-
@james-woodroffe That is a decent amount of money matched in the market isn't it!
-
There’s no way known I’m laying my Magpies at 1.16 but if it presents itself as an opportunity to do so over the weekend so early in a match it could provide the perfect AFL trading opportunity.
Good liquidity also with £280,000 in the market.
-
@keith-anderson they do Keith. It’s kinda had its moment but they do wheel it out.
-
@James-Woodroffe Do they still play a mixture of Aussie Rules and Gaelic Football at the end of the season? They used to, then they cancelled it because of fighting!!
-
I'm in!

I'm a fan (Geelong supporter) but I get way to engrossed in games to trade them.
