If a selection steams in during the last couple of minutes before post time by more than 1 whole point, then it would be advisable to get out and take a small red before they go in running.

Please Note: Anything over 7/1 (8.0) should be layed at half stake, max lay price 10/1 (11.0)

Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

There are no lay trades for today. The racing looks very dire to say the least. Just a smallish wager to WIN on Shintori in the 2.20 at Fontwell.

During the previous week I have incorporated more meetings for the lay trades. I have also during the previous three days introduced you to what the title of this thread actually means. IE: 'Trading Lays'.

From the beginning of this thread the strategies have evolved and I felt it better to introduce a little at a time which should not cause any ambuguity. So, by now for those who have been following this thread you should be fully up to date and hopefully you have something that can be used to your advantage.

If you are new to this thread then I would suggest it would be more helpful to yourself if you read through the posts as questions are replied to in a clear manner. However, if you do have a question, then just ask.

@luke-silvey These are Lays that can be left to run or trade out in running. There are a few more explanations through this thread.

Note again the benefit of trading out in running if you can make near your full profit. Even though The Wallace Line won it looked beaten 3 fences out and the odds climbed to 33/1 from 7/1, a full profit was made at 28/1 when traded out.
As stated in my very first post these are Lays that can be traded.

NOTE: Some of you may be wondering as to why the 3.55 race at Doncaster made a profit when it actually won. The selection looked beaten just after the last fence, this being the case it drifted way out in price and was traded out making an easy full 2 point profit (always protect your bank), this is a good practice, in racing anything can happen. If a full or near full profit can be made during the race then trade out, no matter at what stage of the race. In this event the horse in front tied up and the selected horse came back and won on the line.

    @mull

    Hi Mull.
When laying going in play is the norm. You have to be alert as to what is happening in the market as well as the race itself, (NOTE: the race itself, not just the selected horse).

How is your runner going? what is the jockey doing? are there any other runners going easy? are other jockeys looking as though they are going easy?

Watching jockeys hands and arms as well as the market is something that is soon grasped.

For myself, software is a must when laying. It enables you to see the amount of money queued for the backing and laying prices much more clearly than using the BF interface.

Of course, you could even trade out for a percentage. For example once the price reaches a certain point and your target is 50% profit, then trade out at that point.

Never be afraid to trade out for a small loss pre race or in the race itself.

    Mike

Good morning Michael. From what i have read so far. Do you always go in-play (I know to get out if the price comes in) if so, what is the strategy? You can just point me in the direction if it suits you better than a full on explanation. Thanks.
