New Years Resolutions

I hate new years resolutions and all the rubbish that generally comes with it but in this case it seems like a good place to make a a fresh start and try take on board all the things I've learnt in 2019.
For me, I think, when I look at a bunch of potential trades and see the almost definites, the probables and the possibles, I need to only get involved with the almost definites.
By that of course I don't mean it would be a banker. There is no such thing as we all know. I mean that I am 100% confident in the reason for the trade on logic, past results, odds and liability.
This would also I guess tie in with overtrading.
A big thing moving forward is not to let trading get in the way of life.
So what is everyone else thinking for 2020 in ways to improve?
-
@frode-lia I am so with you, less is more on the strategy front!
I want to simplify my own trading this year too
-
@keith-anderson ht Ltd and first half goals?

@ryan-carruthers In total. Two for footy and one for tennis. Will stick to ATP first set this season.
I do two trading strategies for football and that's it!
-
@ryan-carruthers The goal is to simplify all things in life. I have five kids that needs attention. I have a football club to run, and three podcasts. So need to be even more effective this year. Though about 70% of my total income this year will come from trading, I must even focus more when and how to trade. Not time for Romanian second divison that I dont know nothing about. Less time on twitter and instagram and so on. You know the drill, Ryan. Mental hygiene to have less things to think about.

Like it, you thinking 3 strategies per sport or 3 total?
-
Two trading goals for 2020:
-
Trade less. In 2019 I had about 30 trades per week on average. Want to get down to under 15.
-
Trading less strategies. In 2019 I traded 8 strategies for 2 sports. Want to get down to 3.

@jordan-kane Love it! Have you thought about writing a blog on the forum? Like JP and Darri have done?
I remember I had a blog!! Didn't last that long, probably because I tend to trade on the go! @Darri said my blog encourage him to keep one, so at least some benefit came from it.

@james-everard this is something I have seen happen to many traders its a mix of greed and also a mix of doing well and confidence creeping in.
I like the idea of taking out the money putting it in another account, you are a good enough trader to keep building that bank, you've already shown you can do it.
Martin is a beast at this, he does very well with moving his funds around and creating profitable banks.

Happy new year everyone, hopefully 2020 is a green one for all!
In terms of my trading resolutions, I still need to work on the fear of missing out. There will be many days where I am doing well by sticking to my plan and then I will blow my profits later in the day by jumping into trades I hadn't planned just because they seemed too good to miss. I am getting there with it though so hoping to continue sticking to my own trading plans!

The two main things for me are bank management as I’ve been pretty dodgy at that so far. Built up a decent one, get carried away with staking and boom, it’s gone! This is also linked to the second thing I’m working on .... managing impulsivity.
I can jump onto trades without thinking it through or proper research. I get carried away with the buzz and fear of missing out. Unsurprisingly this usually results in losses. I’ve a couple of strategies I like and seem to be profitable with good strike rates WHEN I choose the right trades. I’ve never really been a small detail man so I’m changing this day by day. I’m recording all my trades and reviewing at the end of the day.Happy New Year all.
it helps me to know I am not the only one who suffers with this mine is down to my gambling background. 2020 is the year mentality and bank management has to change. Happy new year to you as well mate

It's really frustrating, I think when I get to a bank of £500 again I will at the end of that month withdraw half the profit I have accrued so if I have made say £300 ( now a bank of £800) I will withdraw half £150.00 and then have a bank of £650.00 and do the same until I am comfortable dealing with a bigger bank.
Happy new year to you as well Keith or ‘Shana Tova’. -

@james-everard This makes me happy! You have some amazing trading selections, just remember there is always another one don't let trading get in the way of life matey, enjoy the group here and enjoy time with family/friends
Hi Ryan that is the annoying and frustrating thing for me , my strategies are working I build up a bank and greed sets in, and that is when I end up blowing my bank on trades I shouldn't be getting involved with. I got up to £1000 from £200 a couple of days ago and lost £800. I now have £220 so I am going to stick to trading just my selections and I think when I get to £500 mark withdraw some money to prevent the greed taking over.
I am going to get back into keeping fit again and socialising a bit more and work my trading around these times rather than the other way around. Happy new year mateJames, I had to do this when I started trading too. The truth is I was worse with the more money that I had!
If I can work on it then so can you! One day everything just clicked with me.

My NY resolution is to stop spending all my winnings! This is a big and serious year for me trading wise. I'm going to go 50 / 50. 50% of my winnings will be spent - the other 50% will be used to pay off historical debt that I have.
