West Indies and Pakistan do battle in the second game of the World Cup at Trent Bridge today.

I wouldn't expect either of these sides to trouble the knockout stages of this competition. If there were any justice the Windies wouldn't even be here; but for rain in Harare during the qualifying tournament, mighty Scotland would be taking on the mercurial Champions Trophy holders in Nottingham.

As for Pakistan, despite their past glories, they're coming into the competition on the back of a ten-match losing streak.

Despite the lack of form, however, I still think we could be in for a run-feast. I'm not impressed by either bowling attack, and in domestic one day competition there have been three scores of over 400 scored at Trent Bridge this year.

There could be a little bit of early movement, so for me the play will be to wait for 4/5 overs then back the batting side - especially if the Windies bat first and the Universe Boss Christopher Henry Gale is still occupying the crease!

He might just be dispatching the bowlers into the River Trent in double quick time, and even if he does fall early there are plenty of other batmsen capable of punishing a lack-lustre attack. The only bowler to fear is Wahab Riaz, who loves to rise to the big occasion, but he tends to be more dangerous in the latter stages.

Pakistan scored big against England earlier this month, despite their defeats, and although they're less explosive than their Caribbean counterparts, I would expect their odds to steadily decrease if they bat first.

Shot out to 1.97 there - amazing; got out too soon but didn't really expect it to rocket like that.

Thanks Richard I made some at the start of the match backing England when the odds went close to 2.0 like you suggested.

I cashed out with a 20% profit on the stakes.

@gary-brown wish I was - no, I'm his old dad and have been following the cricket since the days when Geoffrey Boycott opened for England!

Batsmen enjoying facing Plunkett after Rashid. He does take wickets but can be expensive. Out to 1.4 and beginning to green out.

My plan is to wait for the end of Archer's spell, then lay England.

England not as dominant as I expected but plenty of ups and downs, so several chances to cash in. A tidy profit in hand. Could be a very tight game. Would expect SA to give this a decent crack if Amla, de Kock and Du Plessis play sensibly.

@martin-futter I always feel the 50-over game is much easier to trade than T-20 cricket. Much more even and predictable.

Anyone else backing/trading England? With Buttler to come I reckon 350 is still on the cards, which would probably see them around 1.25 at the break.

A good tactic has been to gradually drip out the red as the price goes down, then re-back England (or whoever else looks good in any given match) following a wicket. But don't back immediately after the wicket as two often fall quickly - I always let things settle down again and look to back after 2/3 more overs have been bowled.

I only do that with teams I strongly fancy to win though - as you don't want to be on the wrong end of a collapse and an easy win for the opposition.
