    Afternoon Traders

I might be over thinking this but just wanted to see if anyone has something I'm thinking about.

I'm just putting a portfolio of strategies together which will likely generate multiple selections every day. Now whilst I prefer set and forget strategies I prefer to bet nearer the off rather than hours in advance.

Whilst I'm sat at the laptop I'm invariably doing other stuff in between trades (spreadsheets, education, the occasional bit of my actual job) and was considering a "Daily Planner" to ensure I don't miss any trades.

I have endless spreadsheets for data, strategies, P&L etc but what I was more after was a diary type affair whereby I put all the days events in during an early morning session and then say 10 minutes before the event start I get a desktop notification which alerts me and I go and place the trade.

I'm thinking Microsoft Outlook would suffice but just wondered if anyone was using something already they thought was superior?

    Cheers

    Taff

    @Ryan

For anyone that had already downloaded the original file you might want to re-download the "Daily Trading List.xlsm" as I have updated some of the coding in there.

Originally after the Macro was run it auto sorted the Columns by Start Time and then Subject. But I realised that all my BTC Filters were set for that day (as it suits my personal routine). Therefore if people have filters for the following days it didn't sort by date for them. I have now changed this so when the Macro is run it will pull all the selections then sort by Date then Time then Subject.

Hopefully that makes it a bit more efficient for anyone else wishing to use it.

If anyone wants to suggest any improvements/amendments I am always willing to take feedback onboard. Something that works for the majority would be great.

    @Ryan

Quick Video of how quick it is each day once set up properly.

There were only a few selections for my strategies today but on weekends there can be 80 - 100 potential trades each day so this does come in very handy as a admin tool.

Hopefully some other members might get some benefit from it too.

I created some VBA Coding so that the Filter Export could be automatically turned in to a Google Calendar Format. For me the important thing was not missing trades so I set this up for each event to only last 10 minutes at the start of each game and then set my calendar reminder for 15 minutes before the event.

    Instructions:

    1. Download the following file to your PC/Cloud making sure to keep the filename as "Daily Trading List"

    https://1drv.ms/x/s!Aldu2zoSUAc8_SOWdPzaxwgND90_?e=WEODbB

    2. Go to the BTC Football Statistics Software and "Export All" your saved filters. This will put a file in your Downloads Folder called "all_filter_results.csv". You must leave the file called this and ensure there are no old downloads in there or it will be given a different filename.

    3. Go to your Downloads Folder, right click the file and select "Properties". Find the Location detail and copy it.

    4. Open the Excel Workbook and in the Help Search Bar at the top type "View Macros", select it when the option shows.

    5. Make sure the ImportCSVData.ImportCSVData Macro is selected and click "Edit"

    6. This will open the VBA Window with all the code. Look under the first green line of text and you will see a file path. Replace "C:\Users\TaffP\Downloads" with your file location that you copied earlier, making sure to leave the "\all_filter_results.csv" part there.

    7. Click the Save Button and then close the VBA Window.

    8. Now on the Main Excel Screen, select the the Developer Tab and then select the "Macros" button.

    9. Run the Macro and boom all your Filter Export data is imported.

    10. Save a copy of this as a .csv file and import it into your Google Calendar.

That's the full initial setup and saves done. Now everyday just follow these steps:

    1. "Export All" your BTC Filters making sure old files are deleted so the file is called "all_filter_results".

    2. Open your "Daily Trading List" Excel Workbook.

    3. Run the Macro.

    4. Save as a .csv

    5. Import to Google Calendar.

Any issues with it just give me a shout. I did try to upload a video to show how quick the daily process is but the forum wouldn't let me upload the video file.

Are you inputting your events manually? If so I might have a clever little present for you.

This goes for anyone who wants a very efficient way to put your filter exports in to your Google Calendar.

Takes about 5 minutes to set up initially and then literally like 5 each morning and all events are in your calendar!

Thanks Mate. Google Calendar seems to be people preferred option so I think I will give that a go. As well as BTC I have some strategies from other successful traders and I'm looking at combining them into a single portfolio so I don't want to be missing trades if there are a lot on a particular day.

I would undoubtedly miss the profitable trades and hit all the losers....Murphy's Law and all that.

@taff-phillips I think your plan is pretty cool!

It's kinda how mine works, I use google calendar and set it to ping me 15 mins before the event starts which gives me time to check everything 😄

Great idea to import the CSV File, kills 2 birds with 1 stone.

I'll definitely look at that 👍🏼

So I used google calendar for a few days and then it drove me mad with too many notifications.
I edited the daily selections download CSV file and could then import it straight into the calendar. I assume something similar could be done with outlook.
