@chris-osborne
Hi Chris, from what the guys have been saying I'd say 1 point is 1% of bank balance but I'm scrapping all of those crazy ideas and sticking to my guns. I'm starting the blog when I get home later on and will put in there what I've learnt so far and my ideas for Ryan's stage 3 (which I think im at now).
One thing I did feel the other day was the back the under 2.5 goals strategy I've been working on will need tweaking with earlier exits and look at not going below a certain level of odds to reduce time decay with quicker profits.

Hi guys,
Need some advice if possible for setting up my parameters for starting my journey blog tomorrow. I was thinking of using 2.5% of my balance for stakes and after serious thoughts (after advice yesterday) perhaps trying to get an average of 2 points per day.
Is there an excel template about for bankroll recording available, which I could use also please
Thanks in advance guys
I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
You'll be profitable or unprofitable whether you have targets or not, and you own data, once you have a big enough selection that incorporates both the upswings and the downswings, will tell you what kind of target is possible and reasonable for you i.e. in time the target will more or less set itself.
I'd say setting rules on stake sizes is way more important. Personally I never go above 1% but I do an awful lot of trades, and I am not in and out of the market in the same way as you are. If you are betting 2.5% of your bankroll as your stake but for 10 minutes, then you are risking less than 2.5%, so in that context 2.5% seems sound enough.

@lee-snape I wouldn’t set daily targets it’s too short term a view losing days will happen I’d look at a long term approach 3 month or even a year, takes the pressure off.
When setting targets remember the SMART acronym: -
Specific
Measurable
Attainable or Achievable
Realistic
TimelyWhen you talk about pts are you talking pts at risk per trade or total at risk in the market at any one time. I don’t generally risk more than 1or 2 pts in any one trade unless I have a good reason to do so. I’m also on the Risk Averse side of things

Thanks guys

I need to set realistic targets
You're better off forgetting the targets and letting it fall naturally. Any sort of targets other than improve on last month if possible could lead to you taking a bad trade you otherwise wouldn't because that's all there is.
-
@lee-snape the trouble with setting daily targets is you might have a tendency to look for trades you otherwise wouldn’t just to you hit your target. If you do that then you might end up chasing losses. Unfortunately trading isn’t consistent enough to rely on a regular target.
I think Ryan said something before about setting 3 goals. A realistic, an ambitious and a scary goal, then you can work towards each of those. For example, 10pts, 25pts and 60pts. Or break even, 10pts, 30pts.
The trouble with having just one goal is you’ll likely feel bad if you don’t hit it.

I've doubled my bankroll in a month before. It's not for the faint hearted. I was also using 10% of my bankroll per trade. I don't do it now and certainly wouldn't recommend it.

As much advice advice possible is appreciated mate -
@lee-snape
60 points a month? Doubling your bank in a month and a half?
Possible, but highly unlikely.
Others have rightly said 10-15 points a month is excellent. I am not saying you can't achieve your goal but you would need everything to fall in your favour.

One let me down (again) disallowed goal late on but was out by then for loss anyway
Maastricht vs Zwolle will be a LTD and 01.5 though may wait a few minutes for value. (green after first couple of goals on the LTD after that it went mental)
Likewise Sporting LTD but hope for odds to come in a little.
Also 01.5 Termalica BB vs Skra

I thought 5 points was 5% of bank balance per day
It is and it’d be a phenomenal achievement! Good luck!

@stuart-wallace-0 really good if you have enough bookie accounts. Bet365 are the best. My last 2 let me make around £700 each before getting restricted.
