    Had a bit of a rough month with the short odd lays. Unusual for both. Weather I guess?

    Read the first post on both threads.

    I'd recommend getting a UK-based VPS if you're running a Betfair bot, as you'll be closer to their servers.

    If you must use one in a different country then obviously ensure it's a country where Betfair operates and/or use a UK VPN so you're accessing it from a UK IP address.

    If you run your Betfair bot on a server in Lithuania and then log in to the Betfair website on your PC or something in the UK, at the very least you'll probably end up with your account getting locked and having to do a password reset.

    I made this mistake myself recently...had stuff running on my UK server but logged into Betfair from Mexico. They locked me out thinking I'd been hacked and I had to change my password.

    @paul-keighley hi mate I’ve never had any issues at all logging in from the U.K. while my bot is running on the VPS. Not had any notifications from BF at all.
    The only issue is the time difference which is 2 hours ahead on the VPS but it doesn’t affect the bot it’s just when you look at the event times in the bot they are 2 hours ahead.

    @ian-parry @John-Folan thanks guys.

    I feel quite happy with my football trading and looking to move into something else and possibly with a bot. I did try with fairbot for a while which worked fine once it was up and running. My only issue is leaving my laptop on all day, but speaking with our IT department I might be able to snag an old PC to use

    Dan there is an alternative to that - rent a VPS. For around £10 a month you can get a VPS which is essentially a virtual PC which you log into and load the bot software on. It runs 24/7 and you can access it from any device with an internet connection. It never shuts down and you don't need to worry about power outages or internet connection going down. I use https://www.time4vps.com/ but there are plenty of others. Just make sure it's on a country that betfair allow.

    Hi @Keith , Quick vps question if you don't mind as looking to get this set up myself. With time4vps how does it work with regards the IP address they assign you and accessing betfair? From what I can see it only runs from a Lithuania server so do you run into issues with betfair if your bot is logged in from the vps and then you go and access the regular betfair site from your usual UK IP address? I mean do betfair think you are in Lithuania when running bfbm for example? thanks!

    Ah well, that explains why the profit goes up massively when I add this as a filter as obviously the winner is going to trade for much more money. Thanks for the reply

    morning all, just a quick question, when creating a strategy with the racing software, can someone please tell me what horse traded rank means? is this the order they are in the betting market regarding odds, or is it the order they are regarding money matched. I am trying to create a strategy that uses this but the upcoming qualifiers does not match the results. Thanks

    It's the traded amounts. The limitation (currently) with that one is that for past races, it will be looking at the total amount matched including in running. We're going to add a way to give the software a point in time so you can limit it to pre-race traded amounts etc.

    @nick-allan Just this one at the moment.Have had a dabble with others but they were very time specific and it didn’t really suit me.I quickly found out that set and forget was the way forward for me as I only had limited time per day and don’t have automation.The good thing about this strat is that it appears it doesn’t matter when you get on.

    @martin Will do 👍
    I started off with a £20 bank doing 50p stakes at the beginning of July.As soon as I hit £80 I upped it to £1 stakes,had a poor start to August but am now sitting at £116.

    great work!

    Not sure how scientific it is but a couple of times that I have checked some winners against the BSP and there has been a nice positive difference.But I am sure it will even out over time

    I got Dark mystery at 10.5 3.20 Newbury,
    Ignac Lamar at 14.83 6.40 Wolverhampton and
    Champagne city at 22.42 7.45 Salisbury

    @nick-allan Hi Nick
    I got Dark mystery at 13 3.20 Newbury,
    Ignac Lamar at 25 6.40 Wolverhampton and
    Champagne city at 36 7.45 Salisbury.
    I put my bets on at about 10 am as I am doing this as a set and forget and that’s the time I can get all my bets on for the day.
