@andy-donnelly apologies for delay in responding was completely messing up a trade on Pliskova last night not for the first time.
I’m not sure to be honest I’ve never looked into, you can easily get the stats for both players
-
Thanks Chris, that’s helpful. Will take a closer look at the forecast section.
On the filter front, what player does it show the stats for? Is it just the player essentially listed as the home team?
-
@andy-donnelly, tagging @Ryan as he's forgotten more about tennis than I'll ever know.
This is a filter I'm currently testing, but its a starting point, please don't trade off it as its not validated as yet won't consider using until next year but it shows me the occasional nugget of information such as Andreescu has lost 55% of second sets after winning the first. Kind of makes my decision easier although game flow is vital in tennis.
Its only useable in the WTA as although all regular ATP matches are only three set matches, the grand slams being 5 distorts the numbers so you get higher results in ATP stats.
With regards to your query on which player is shown, it does only show you the result of one player, took me a few weeks to get my head around that but its not a big issue once you get used to it although I agree whould be great if it showed both players. I find it easier to quickly run through the smart filters for the games I'm interested, especially the serve/returns and breaks tabs as well as sequences.
One area of the stats in particular that is a goldmine is the forecast section especially the PRojected Hold, Btreak points Saved Beeak Points converted entries = the following is for the Kerber v Kasatkina match later: -
There's a strategy around the Projected Hold stat in partivular which works well in the first set of WTA matches: -
Take the difference of the two players Proj Hold stat - if over 3 in favour of one player your in business if not forget about it. In this instance Kerber is almost 8 pts above Kasatkina's stats.
Let each player serve once
If Kasatkina breaks, back Kerber
Cash out or remove liability if Kerber breaks back
If she doesn't break back, take the loss at the end of the set.
Ifreaches 4-4 and no break move on as too close ot end of set.
-
Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide or video that explains the filters on the tennis stats software? It’s not clear to me what the results are telling me, I.e if you select player percentage of matches won, it’s not clear what player the result corresponds to or whether it’s an overall percentage across the two competing players.
Also does anyone have a filter they use for lay the first set winner that uses more than the percentage of 3 set matches stat?
-
@martin I don’t think so but I guess something has which is worrying.
My trading is mainly around laying an underdog if wins 1st set need to see if there’s a trend or if it’s my game selection.
Probably need to look at entry points also.

Not been posting in here much of late as been struggling since the start of the US Open and not sure what's been going on as yet. truth be told not been great since the start of Wimbledon. Consistency is an issue can't string a decent set of results together seems to be one winning trade followed by a loss
There's a big tournament in Indian Wells next week for both ATP and WTA which is arguably the biggest tournament outside the slams after that there isn't alot other than tour finals until next year.
Anyway Andreescu plays Rogers today in Chicago which should be a close match but found this in the BTC stats - Andreescu has a 3 set % of 65% and her Won Set 1 Lost Set 2 stat is 60%. Very rare both of these stats are above 50% normally around 30% Rogers stats do contradict that a bit as 80% of her matches are straight sets regardless of whether or not she wins or loses
-
@chris-osborne seems really down to Earth as well
-
I hope you're all enjoying the spectacle. An incredible match so far! Two extremely talented players.
-
Will definitely not be trading it but will definitely be screaming for the girl from the adopted homeland Go Emma!!
-
Channel 4 will be showing the match live as well as Amazon Prime

How amazing for young Emma Raducanu. Lelah Fernandez hasn’t been to bad either this fortnight. Maybe (let’s not pressure them) but we are seeing the start of something special. Some people I know from the WTA have been banging on about Fernandez now for a bit but I doubt they saw this coming. Incredible from both girls. Tomorrow night regardless will be something else.

@chris-osborne fair point about bbc spoty... although usually takes something remarkable to beat an olympian during olympic years... does she have to win the title to be properly noticed? The events not been on mainstream tv after all.
