It's amazing, the first every qualifier to get to the final?
I believe the last teenage to get to a final was Serena Williams and she had a shocking career didn't she
It’s incredible fair play to her not even losing a set through 3 rounds of qualifying and 6 rounds of the tournament to date.
For someone playing her fourth main tour tournament what an achievement.
She’ll be ranked 32 if she loses and 24 if wins and only British woman ranked in the top 50. Says a lot about how crap Konta, Watson, Dart etc have been over the past few years.
Strangely Fernandez will probably be the hardest game she has had. She has also had an incredible tournament beating Osaka, Svitolina and Sabalenka. Both players have nothing to lose
Can’t imagine the final won’t be shown in bbc or sky, Amazon Prime probably expecting a ton of new sign ups.
BBC don’t need to bother opening up voting for Sports Personality it’s a foregone conclusion

Emma Raducanu makes the US Open final at just 18! I certainly wasn't playing grand slam finals at 18. Incredible.
I am lead to believe its live on Amazon Prime, Saturday 9pm UK time. -

@chris-osborne great spot there on Andreescu!
I do like that stat
Pity the match didnt start until 2am

I know he's been playing well having won the Olympics and done well after that but does anyone else think Zverev is too short at 1.19 v Sinner.
Sinner is inconsistent can be very good or poor from one match to the next but along with Alcaraz, one of the rising starts of ATP tour.
Something else I've found today (can't you tell I have a week off), but Andreescu has a 55% Won 1st set lost 2nd set return according to the BTC stats. For anyone awake at 2am might be worth lookng at. On current form, I think Sakkari will be too strong but you never know
1 from 2 Zverev won in straight sets but Andreescu did lose the second set albeit via tie break after winning the first. Looks like Sakkari went a break up a couple of times but didn't consolidate the break
The W S1 L S2 and vice versa are a couple of stats I like anything above 40% generally piques my interest, above 50% which doesn't happen often is usually a clear signal for me expecially in WTA. Need to do further analysis however.
-
@james-woodroffe ouch unlucky, managed to limit my losses on that one to half a point from 1st set didn’t get involved in the second or in Zverev luckily as had to go out.
-
@chris-osborne mate as soon as I saw Zverev was the 5pm match I was thinking “Na this will clash with dinner and blah blah I’ll skip it.” But then I got involved with Bencic and Swiatek and got myself in a mess. Was looking at 1.6 points green and was thinking this is the worst time to be doing this trade just take it. (Swiatek had break points at 1-1 in the 2nd) convinced myself to stick it out till she broke and then it all went pear shaped. 4 points Red.
The penny dropped at least that I didn’t need to be as aggressive given the situation I found myself in as far as the month was tracking. Never stop learning. -
@james-woodroffe Or Zverev can win in straight sets
-
@chris-osborne yes I think Zverev is way short. Just saw this and might very well look at it also.
-
@chris-osborne I use that strategy of backing favourites down an early break also. I’m also thinking lay the first set winner may come more to the fore now during the backend of the tournament but again will tread with caution. Today I’m looking at Bencic v Swiatek for that one as I think with an early start tomorrow I’ll have to skip Pliskova v Pav so will wait and see.

Laying first set winner hasn't been working this tournament, heard a stat on one of the commentaries that at that time of the 99 WTA matches completed something like 80 had been won by the player that won the first set.
Tried a slightly different approach today although both trades kind of fell into my lap - Backed both Svitolina and Kerber after they went a break down in the first set and both pretty much broke straight back and took the first set. In both instances, partial liability removed after the break back with the rest removed after the service hold. Steady 1.5 pts profit
With Barty and Osaka losing over the past couple of days, Women's tournament is even more wide open than usual if thats possible. For me, Krejcikova is looking strongest right now but who knows, she could very easily lose to Muguruza later tonight

@chris-osborne let us know if you get any more issues
Same thing's happened again with the stats for today's matches
-
@chris-osborne cheers mate I appreciate it. I’m aware at some stage I’ll have a couple go against me but as long as I stick to the process.
-
@james-woodroffe excellent again James I made a pt profit on that match also. 11pts profit over the first few days and minimal trading is exceptional. Whatever your doing keep it going
-
Kerber v Stephens.
Backed Angie with a full 5% stake after she lost the first 5-7 in a tight first set at 3.55 Removed liability when she broke in the 2nd she then went up a double break to take the set. Held my position until Stephens served first in the 3rd. Stephens held so I got out with 3.63 points green. Just under 11 points profit now for the open. -
@chris-osborne yeah mate there is definitely a lot to be said for not deviating from plans. You made the right choices also despite Azarenka taking control of the 2nd set. You read the match you made the right decision Azarenka had different plans. There’s still green from the Halep match.
-
@james-woodroffe Sticking to the plan has been a common theme of late which is what you did with these two games
The first set of the Halep game was back and forward so I laid her which worked out and I ended up with a small profit before Halep broke back
The Muguruza game I just thought she was starting to overpower Azarenka at the end of the first set and expected her to carry on in that manner so didnt enter of course Aza then goes 4-0 up but thats results orientated thinking and I'm comfortabke with not getting involved
-
The first two WTA matches today have both gone 3 sets however I was adamant that I would only enter if Halep and Muguruza dropped the first. Both won their opening sets so they’ve been left alone.
Hindsight tho Muguruza loves a 3 set match almost as much as Venus Williams and Azarenka is a hell of a fighter. Still happy tho that I’ve stuck to my guns and didn’t get involved despite missing out on the green. I definitely wouldn’t have not got involved in the Halep match saying all that.
