Hey guys, my name is Jason, I'm 25 years old, married, have a newborn child, by day I work with family growing apples, cherries, and strawberries and by night I make Basketball algorithms for NBA and WNBA. I've been working on Basketball algorithms for the past 5 years and while I am at a stage where I could quit my day job to bet full time, I value working with family more and I can manage to do both. I prefer to be outside than in front of my computer all day anyway! I came here looking for information to learn more about Betfair trading in general but mostly interested in Cricket trading, I'm very interested in big bash live trading and pre-game automated scalping which I am learning to do on Bet Angel practice mode. If there's any Basketball traders or Big Bash traders here, I'd love to hear from you!
Cheers

Yes, taking advantage of NBA player rotations makes a lot of sense.
In terms trading T20 there are some absolute gurus in here who can give some great advice. There is also a podcast on cricket trading which really peaked my interest. The key strategy looks at taking advantage of market overreactions to wickets, 4’s and 6’s. @Martin-Futter is the guru and can talk to this much better than I.
Myself, I’ve been looking at laying faves batting 1st (teams batting 2nd winning rate currently 60%) and in particular ones who have lost early wickets. It’s been pretty successful for me so far this BBL.
worth following and speaking to @Richard-Futter and @Luke-Ridger in the cricket thread all of my knowledge has come from their excellent advice!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
@sean-fitzgerald Hey Sean, I definitely think NBA has massive swings due to player rotations, you can have 5 all-stars come off the court with team odds of $1.10 and have the second unit come on and play rubbish. I like how those rotations are not factored into the live odds. a good example of player rotation performances can be found here https://stats.nba.com/lineups/advanced/?sort=EFG_PCT&dir=1
When the on-court rotations happen, look at the lineup performance, including the current quarter, and that will give you a good idea when to back/lay
Any good advice for trading BBL? Cheers mate -
Hey Jason - Welcome. I’m also relatively new to the community and trading in general.
I’ve been trading BBL and was also trialling some things with NBA with mixed success. Both with pre game “set and forget” strategies due to restrictions here (which we discussed in another thread).
I think there is massive opportunity with NBA as the markets can swing throughout the course of a match.
Happy to chat more
Cheers
